Hello, been a long time lurker here and been on the slipperey slope know for a year.

I just recieved my ofk 700 and ordered the 0 degree base with it.  My problem is that it's not ligning up at 0 degree to the router,  it is a little sloppy when i put it on before i tighten the locking screw, The other base is tighter with less movement, also if i look between the base and router it is light comming trough with the 0 degree base.  The base. Also seems like its been grinded on the top where the router sits,  is this correct?

Here is a picture of the base.

Any help is appreciated.

I don't believe that I properly said  [welcome] to the FOG previously.  I would suggest that you contact Festool Norway and send them that image whereas that is a new purchase.  The grinding marks just don't have the normal Festool fit and finish written all over them.  I admit that the time I've spent with the 700 was limited to a class, but I don't remember seeing that.

My base does not look anything like that. I think you got someones experiment.

Thank you for the welcome and the reply,

Just measured the angle and around 1 degree of so I'll contact festool on monday.

the bases are cast with 1.5deg mating surfaces and then machined for  the 0 deg version as pictured .

Ditto.    The zero degree base that I used was ground also.

jajohnsen , still seems like something is wrong with alignment on yours though.

That doesnt sound right - the guide post holes wouldnt be in alighnment then.  When i had my 700, seemed the posts have a pretty tight tolerance.  Cant believe the same base is used for both degrees.

Hi, Mr Johnsen and welcome to the FOG  [welcome]

I have got the ofk700 but not the 0 degree base. Looking at the base I got it looks like if the base would be grinded off, the pins on the router would stick thru the base too far and actually touch the base. Is there a difference in fitting the base if you adjust the depth full way to - (minus)? Does the base have a proper fit to the router in horisontal mode?

Hi thank you for the picture festoolviking,  my router base looks the same. I have looked more and it seems to me that it is the adjustable plate that is not parallel to the part thats mount to the router,  it is of both in horizontal mode and vertical. Taking the base and placing a straight edge on the bottom and top and measuring between them front and back of the base it's a little more than 1mm difference.

The reason i got light between the base and the router was because the adjustable plate was all the way up to the mount and the pins on the router would hit it as Festoolviking sugested.

I have both the 1.5 degree base and the 0 degree base and the zero base does have a milled face which meets the router, whereas the 1.5 degree base is not milled. I don't know why this is, I have actually skimmed the face of the 1.5 base so that it sits flush to the router housing.

Jonathan.
