How many use their ct vac as an extension cord?

Needed to cut some radii on a few shelf boards tonight, to lazy to get an extension cord....unplugged the rotex, plugged in the colt (no dust hookup) ::) went to work.

Guilty. Cordless drill quit working. Had the corded drill in the closet but the extension was in the house. Plugged it right in and went on drilling.

Yes, to the point that I wish that there was a switch setting for it!

or an extra plug, or something.

Yes to both!

There is the option of just that on the new CTL26/36 vacs - unfortunately, it seems the UL decided that you guys over there weren't allowed that feature...

Whenever I use my Bosch table saw it's plugged into my ct22 because I use it for dust extraction. Haven't had any problems.

Yeppers. It's ill advised to plug in a Bosch table saw to a Festool vac.  At least I learned how to change the motor and variable speed logic board.  Oops.  [eek]
Was the motor and the logic board on your Vac or on your table saw?

What is the issue?  Does the saw draw too much current?

I had always thought the vac was meant to be used as an extension cord, for festools anyway. I thought it was part of the clever design?

It's one of the many reasons why I like the vac is because it is a vac and an extension cord saving me hassel of carrying one.

Speaking of the new ct26 and it's extra socket does anyone know if you use the secondary socket does it still turn on the vacuum or is it a power only socket?

I believe you have the choice of either. There are two electric modules available - one for permanent power, and one that switches on the vacuum in the same way as the main socket.

Chris, you can get both types (the auto-switching and the always on). I bought both types with my ctl26, but I only put the autoswitching in once, because someone on the forum had a question about it. (They are very easy to install, two 5 mm allen bolts, no wires to connect)
And yes I use the ct as an extension cord a lot.

The motor and the logic board was on the Bosch table saw.
The issue was a lack of amps going to the saw.  It's supposed to be 15 amps. Now I plug it in the wall.  [eek]

Can you post a link to some UK vendor that has these?  What's the part number for them?

Festool #496142 for the one with continual power w/o vac. activity and Festool #496405 for the module with the switch.

Including 19% VAT they cost 48 Euro on the mainland

Now the question is: does the American CTL 26/36 have the contacts and such like the European / German ones do? Otherwise it might be a little.

If it has, well, just order the modules from us over here  [big grin]

Err, they use different sockets in the US, so that won't really work...

Somebody on Ebay was selling conversion kits to allow just that with the CT22's and 33's.

As for the Bosch - what'd did it cost you for the motor and board?

I've used my Bosch saw for years on my Fein Turbo II, but that vac has a much higher amperage rating than the Festool vac.

What's the amp rating on a TS75 or the big router?  Has to be close to what the Bosch pulls, right?
