Fences are square. Cuts pine and poplar like butter. Dust collection is remarkable. Blade guard hangs up on points. I could care less about the casting marks. I will keep everyone posted about this saw. Besides my building job I am working on my own house and am tired of the dust. I will compare the kapex to my all time favorite scms the makita ls1211. let the war begin.

Congrats. I got mine end of Dec--missed the opportunity for the extra savings. Prior, I had a PorterCable saw that I couldn't square up to save my life--It's getting added to the growing collection of tools I'll be selling this spring as I'm upgrading to Festool this year. Last week I was mitering trim to .5 and .75 degree increments no problem. The Kapex truly is a joy to work with.

I gotta ask. After making a few dozen mess around cuts I noticed an oily black residue coming out where the motor fan exhausts on the top back of the saw head. Is this normal, temporary breakin period ? It got me paying more attention to the saw sound which has a box of gravel sound especially when the brake comes on. Is this also normal. Thx

Thx. I have never been a laser on the saw guy but it seems to be a useful feature on the kapex. The right laser projects clean but the left ever so slightly hangs up on the blade kerf. I guess I am in for some adjustment. The vertical blade adjustment seems right on. The miter is close I will update. Even so the factory settings are closer than any saw I have purchased new to date. The standard blade seems good so far. I think 60 teeth is good for 10" blades. I think 80 is good for 12" . Personally I feel people put too high tooth counts on these scms as they are all lightly powered machines more teeth requires more power.
I am still waiting for my multiblades but have messed around with the kapex. Out of the box after doing the 4 cuts over an 11 1/32" of a cut the piece was 1 1/32" at eye end closer to me and 1" by the fence. Ya'll can do the math. The 45 degree cuts where so close I do not think I could get them closer. It passed the parellel blade test where I take a 12" board pull it out all the way and make a small plunge cut and pull the head up and make a small plunge cut with the head close to the fence. Kerf cuts align right on. Than I did a 45 bevel return cut on a 1x12 and the 0 bevel cut and 45 lined right up. All was not perfect but close. The vertical cut with the board to the right of the blade was dead nuts over 4 3/4". With the wood to the left of the blade the cut was off less than 1/2 of 1 mm. This is due to the fact that the turn base is out at the fence(up) like the thickness of a piece of paper. The laser still needs to be adjusted which is next. I find the slight imperfection too small to matter for what I do. I will keep on the base but doubt it's going to matter.
latest update. I have adjusted the lasers which was much easier than I thought it would be. The the adjusters have different tension rates as the lateral is the hardest. I have taken a close look at the flatness of the turntable. My turntable is actual higher than the base by about one sheet of paper on the right side and maybe 2 sheets on the left. Maybe a slight tightening of the base will bring it down perfect ? or maybe just wear. I adjusted the bevel setting and on the first shot got it real close considering the turntable is a touch high. Very easy to adjust the bevel setting.

What are the dust collection results cutting Azek or PVC material? I use my dewalt miter saw now with a modified dust shoot and its very messy and thats hooked up to my midi.
I just put my multiblades and sawhelper set up on the saw today so I am just getting started with real work. Azek and other plastic materials pose unique problems as the plastic dust clings to everthing like static electricity or really nasty cat hair. I got the saw vertically tuned up here are 2 4 3/4" pieces cut veritically pushed tight against the fence and butted together. I got good results no mater what side of the blade the wood was on. The very small difference in the turntable height made no difference. The only thing preventing absolute percection are those damn casting marks on the base. Lol. [attachimg=1]][attachimg=1]

I agree just like cat hair! At I first was using my Fein vac with the miter saw. The hose on the Fein isnt anti-suction so there was white pvc duct everywhere, and the hose was completely white. I hooked it up the midi and its still messy. Thats why i was looking at the kapex to see if that would help.

Like you I was a fence sitter. I researched the Kapex, read every post on FOG about the Kapex I could find, watched many videos and looked at one live at my dealer a few times. I kept thinking my Dewalt is fine which in all honesty it was fine. Then I decided to go for it. I bought a Kapex and a Midi so I could dedicate that CT to the Kapex. After 3 - 4 cuts I knew it was a good decision. I just wished I had sat on the fence another 2 months so I could have gotten the discount.
