On the fence as to which hose to get

I have a CT36 and the hose that came with it which is a 27mm x 3.5m I believe.

Looking to get a longer AS hose and wondering which will fit my needs best.
My debate is between the 452880 and the 452884 hoses. Both are 5M long
which is what I want. The difference is the 27 vice 35mm ends.

Current line up includes RTS400, RO125, OF1400, TSC55, and DF 700. I've used
all with my current hoses with no problems. Down the road I am considering a
cordless Carvex and no doubt I'll have another sander some day when the cordless
models hit our shores.

So should I stay with the 27mm hose or will I see any improvement using the larger hose.
If I get the 452884 will it work with all my current tools without using an adapter? I don't
think it will but not sure so here I am asking the collective for your input.

Get the 36 mm hose. The larger size will compensate for the longer length to maintain suction and the 36 mm hose end will go into the 36 mm fittings and over the 27 mm fittings so it will fit all of your tools.

I did that and made an adaptor, out of a piece of pipe, to plug the 27 mm hose into the end of the 36 mm one to get extra length to reach across the shop and cut down on the weight of the bigger hose when using the smaller tools like the sander.

The D36 will make a noticeable improvement on DC for the 1400 router. But as noted by Bohdan will be  heavy when attached to the sanders.

If you use the vacuum for cleanup with a wand, the D36 is much better than the D27 as far as getting splinters caught in the transition from the wand to the hose.

I have a 36mm hose connected to my CT 26.  I bought the adapter from Bob Marino for use with the sanders, domino, etc.; but in hindsight, since I am not using the 27mm hose that came with the vac, I should have sacrificed 1.5' of hose and 2 of the new cleantec hose ends that come with the tools and made my own.

I don't notice much difference with the TS75.

If you want the hose mainly for working with the tools you mentioned, you'll be better off with the 27 mm version. Unlike what was said above, the 36 mm hose will not fit over a 27 mm dust port (yes, it'll fit over it, but it won't stay on because it is too big).

However, there is an adapter available from a 3rd party in the USA to connect the 36 mm hose to a 27 mm tool. As said, the 36 mm hose is a bit cumbersome with the 27 mm tools.

But for cleaning the 36 mm hose is a lot better than the 27 mm. I have both a 27 and a 36 mm hose and I wouldn't want to be without either one of them.

It's a short stretch of D27 hose with two of the Cleantec ends on it.  For me it is much simpler to attach the short length of hose rather than swapping the longer hoses.

I originally got a 36mm hose for ts55 use, but don't bother anymore because the collection difference doesn't offset the added bulk or difficulty pulling across the work. Especially without a properly fitting guide rail deflector.  (Are you listening TylerC ?)  [wink]

I do use it for cleanup and larger router work where the bulk isn't as much of an issue and the performance is really noticeable.  I won't use it at all with a sander, even if it's the only choice.

Are you planning on swapping out your elect./ plug it cords to 5m versions too ?

Thanks Alex. I bought two. One to use now and one for 6 months from now when I can't find the first one.

I added the PSC420 EB with the accessory base kit and OS 400 EQ to the mix today along with the 36mm x 5m hose.

I should have grabbed some blades while I was there. I have a bunch of Bosch T-shank blades but most are on the short side in length. The Carvex seems to have a longer stroke and need a longer blade than my Bosch uses. I am happy to have a nice cordless jig saw. I would not have bought another corded saw as the Bosch is a great saw. Not the same caliber as the Carvex, but still a good saw and it cuts true.

I actually have a festool hose end that screws onto a 36 mm hose and its end is the same size as the standard 27 mm hose end.

I stopped using that end as I found that it clogged up too easily on the OF2200 and restricted the flow too much.

I think that the adapter hose is a better option as it is easy to fit and doesn't leave you with a big lump on the tool.

Yes, I noticed much better (higher) air flow when cleaning up this
evening than previously when I used the smaller hose. The 50mm
end fits snugly over the inlet to the Ultimate Dust Deputy.
