I couldn't figure out why on earth my shelf pin holes weren't perfectly square to the edge of a cabinet I was working on... They were veering by about 1/8 inch over 30 inches. I measured and checked everything, and then after all looked good, I thought... could it be possible the rods are mis-marked? And then comparing them realized one was longer than the other.
I was able to adjust them and carry on, but is this intentional to provide for adjustments? Or is this a defect?
