Long time lurker first time posting.-- A question for the guys down under, which online retailers sites do you use to purchase aftermaket items that are refered to on the FOG.
I would like to purchase a number of festool related items (and other tools and bits as well)but am a little apprehensive as most of the links i seem to follow dont ship to Australia or the shipping charges seem rather expensive.

Hi and  [welcome]

Always good to see another Ozzie on the board.

Most of the guys in the US, UK and Europe will try their best to work with a fellow FOGger.

I've purchased online with the Seneca Woodworking and Precision Dogs guys without even as much as an intro email. Amazon and eBay sellers are a mixed bag.

The big online Festool sellers that offer hybrid Festool products will no doubt work with you on anything other than Festool specific stuff.

There are a number of niche online retailers in Oz that import some of the stuff you'd probably like, such as Incra, Woodpeckers, etc (but they're not exclusive and they're certainly not cheap ... but can be worth considering in relation to the odd bulky item that is sure to be damaged, such as Professional Woodworking Supplies, Carba-Tec).

What sort of items are you hunting for? They Ozzie guys here could share specific experiences I'm sure.

Sadly, they "online" aspect of many local players are third rate. My local (Northern Abrasives) has been working on his new web site for ages ... it's still "coming soon".

cheers,

Kev.

G'day mate

I have gone with a parcel forwarding service (I personally use Shipito - happy but nothing to compare it to). That gives me a US address to post items I purchase online from US suppliers without any hassle. I don't just use it for tools, I buy books, clothes etc this way. The biggest benefit is that I can buy things from various suppliers (ensuring the best price!) and then combine all the packages into one big box to save on postage back to Aus

(Just keep each package below $1000 to avoid GST!)
((Although I'm pretty sure we have a free trade agreement with the US so if it's stamped Made in USA then I don't think GST is payable anyway))

Let  us know what you're going for... Always happy to hear of new things to add to my list!

Richard

Thanks everyone good to see the responses,I have purchased from most of the Aussie suppliers online and generally it works out ok.
I do agree  with Kev that the online offering in Australia is generally pretty poor.

I have a list of items too long to mention but the seneca parallel guide and some precision dogs are near the top.I really like the veritas kit for the MFT from Lee Valley as well.

Thanks Seth i have browsed the list previously but was hoping to get a few experiences from uses before pushing the button.

Ship to sounds interesting, what are the costs like? Although i always ask the price, when i want a new tool it doesnt seem to matter what the answer is. I think that might be a common approach given some of the threads i have read!!!!!!

Have been looking for someone to buy fastcap products from and also maybe the slop stop.I have emailed the suppliers of both for little result.

Fastcap replied they would actually like to add to  distributors in Australia, any takers?

Hey fellow aussie

Lincoln sentry sell fast cap, hafele, and you can buy fast cap from amazon direct and shipping is very cheap

Cheers

Bryan

Thanks Brian,I have found both Lincoln Sentry and Hafele to be pretty poor options, they both carry some items and have no interest in sourcing others although there is a newish Lincoln Sentry outlet in Canberra i havent tried out yet.
Is there a seller on Amazon you have purchased from?
I'm off to do some browsing right now.

Their are quite a few company's who will ship internationaly Lee Valley, amazon, and rockler from the US.  Axminster from the UK are bigger ones I've used and will continue to use.

Quick update, after a few email exchanges Tool nut has confirmed they will ship items other than Festool products to Australia.

Just getting some freight charges from them and will then place an order for some goodies.

I find that if you buy on amazon and they ( amazon) are shipping the item you will have no problem. if its sold by others choose ships and sold by amazon and they will ship to aus its pritty cheap to

Cheer
