I've got one, but I'm not certain I'd reccomend one. As long as you're sanding square to the table, it's great. It eats wood faster than you can blink (I usually have grit 120 on it). It's equally aggressive towards your fingers if you're not careful - speaking from experience there. DC with a CT22 works well, it catches most of the dust. Noise levels are decent, but I wear ear protection with any machine I use anyway.
My main problem with the thing is sanding angles. The thing can be angled, but the flat side of the belt stays square to the table, only the rounded part is angled (this can be useful, as you can use the entire height of the belt when sanding square edges, so it doesn't wear out as fast). If you don't understand what I mean, please check out picture 2 in the manual
here (zipped pdf, 35.8 MB). Other belt sanders oscillate to get the same effect. The belts are very good, just remember to clean them now and then with a rubber stick. For some reason, the rubber shrapnel stubbornly refuses to go into the vac, though.
In terms of versatility, I would prefer something like the Rigid EB4424. That's not available here in the Netherlands, so I can't judge on quality. I'm personally still on the lookout for a disc sander module (Basis 3) that they made in the early 80's, but they're very rare.
