Opinions on GHS 25 ear buds

I am thinking of buying some ear buds in addition to the ear muffs I already have (3M Peltor). I hope these will be a better match for a full face mask (Sundström). The Festool GHS 25 buds seem to be a rebranded version of the ISOtunes ear buds, but I am not sure.

Has anyone used this type of hearing protection? What were your impressions of the comfort and the protection they offer?

they are a rebrand. they were also cheaper than isotunes here. they are earplugs with music and phone abilities.

i had a hard time fitting anything but the smallest tips for my ears. i think because of that the the protection is lower than advertised but still sufficient except for louder machines, like table saw or planer. they fit under my peltors so i can double up if i need to.

they fit Comply 100 Series tips as well so there might be better fitting options

they work great with the 3m full face mask.

what took me a while to really like them is the ambient noise feature. it's a bit off at first, but i found the first setting is the most natural. the automatic silencing works quite well when you're working with others. you can have a normal conversation and you start drilling, the 'protecting' engages. however if i'm alone in a shop i just turn it off completely.

the only other real feature is music. if you don't need music/phone/audiobooks or you work alone they would be a waste of money

Most of the time I work alone, so the ability to hear others talking isn't all that important to me. It's a nice to have though. As a person with a mild case of tinnitus I do really want to block as much noise as possible. I was wondering if these would be good enough for that. I hope so, because right now I have to put on glasses, a mask, and ear muffs. With long hair  that's no fun (at all).

The full face mask is a real improvement, because of the position of the headband. The Sundström can be fitted with ear muffs meant for hard hats, but I was thinking of ear buds for the added flexibility in cases where I don't need glasses or air filtration.

I do like to listen to music while in the workshop, but only when it's safe to do so. Most of the time I do not (want to) have my phone with me when I am doing things that require my attention. To be honest I am not a fan of the whole "always available" thing. But that's probably me being old fashioned (or just becoming a plain old fart).  [embarassed]

I like to use a full face shield when I am routing and have to be up close to see what I’m doing or if I’m using a wire wheel in the right angle grinder. The ear muffs don’t play nice. Lately I’ve been using these foam ear plugs and I like them better that any other I’ve tried. 32NRR rating as well

No reason to buy a rebrand. Just buy the original brand so you have a direct support line and no middleman.

Ha!  [big grin]  I used to have a moustache, but not as big as yours. When all the hair below my forehead went grey and the rest did not (yet) I decided to shave it off. It was always a bit weird, because it was flaming red (carrots would be jealous) when the rest was a bit dull blond. Never understood why that was.

Foam plugs! I hadn't thought of that yet. No music with them, but they will definitely fit under the Sundström.

I think they work as well as some of the more expensive ones and I’m kind of hard on glasses.  [eek]
