Ottoman frame

Hi

I'm looking for some advice about what type of joints to use for a frame for a simple ottoman/footstool. I've attached a picture of a really rough prototype which has mitred corners with dominos. Is a mitred joint a good idea or would a rabbet or something else be better?  If anyone has a design for the frame that would be great.
