Panel Max Glue Press System(I think they are Plano)

[scared]
That's rediculous ! The only shop that I know carries them over here sells them for a little over $600 .... the 2 post extension set is about $450 .....

Sometimes I get a bit tired of these big price differences. It won't do me any good knowing this deal is available, for transportation of just one of these tools will be a price-killer, and I don't have the cash to order a containerload and sell them over here...

Well, too bad. I will try not to loose any sleep over it.

Job

Hi Job,

At least two shops in NL (1 and 2) sell them for less than E. 400 (excl. VAT). Still more expensive than in NA, especially reg. the USD/EUR rate, but 'more' affordable.

If you have some spare time this (sorry, in Dutch) might be helpful.

Best, CJ'60

Hi CJ,

Vat incl. and with the current 1.3 Euro/USD rate, that's just about $600 . Actually I didn't know the nr 1 link sold these .... The nr 2 link is a shop I really like to visit - just have to make sure I don't bring my wallet.

Always wanted this stuff.  I assume it is Plano even though they call it "Panel Max".  Looked at pictures on Advanced Machinery and those of Peachtree, and they look identical.

I ordered two, and now I need to wait until they email me back with a shipping estimate to Canada.  Might be the deal breaker right there.  I also have heard that UPS charges exorbitant brokerage fees, but even if it's $50, I think I'd go for it.  Too bad they only ship UPS and not USPS.  USPS is a lot better on the fees coming over the border.

I had contacted a Canadian Retailer who has a history of carrying PeachTree "BlackJack" products about whether the PaneMax was a rebadged Plano, and this was his response to me today:

Hi Kevin,

WOW you are very perceptive. Yes I have taken on several items that Peachtree has because I did the engineering on several of those items at the manufacturer's office in Taiwan. That was almost 2 years ago. The manufacturer and I had a falling out over something he promised and did not follow through with. So I'm not taking on new products from that manufacturer.

Regarding your question about whether the Panel Max is made by the same company as the PLANO... definitely not. The PLANO is still made in Europe to the best of my knowledge whereas I know the Panel Max is a copy of the PLANO. The factory in Taiwan that I just spoke of copies anything that is not patented. (insert descriptive adjectives here) The Plano's patent expired and they copied it within a couple months. I was just ending my time there when I saw them starting to copy the PLANO.

Since Peachtree is selling it, it must be a good copy. David, the owner of Peachtree, is a very detailed person and he will not sell inferior product. If this is the style of clamp you'd like to try, you are most welcome to order from Peachtree. They are great people. I've stayed in touch with them and hope to see them all again next month during a trip to Atlanta.

As you will read below, Christie has looked after your catalogue request so you should see something in the not so distant future.

Best regards,
Steve

Was quoted $130 shipping + whatever taxes and brokerage fees may apply.  The "deal" has evaporated as far as I'm concerned, and I will be cancelling my order.
