I agree I believe Panasonic make the best impact drill. 

Milwaukee make a powerful impact drill but they have never been reliable.  Even now they ain't.

Regarding the original post I bet the "C" shape Panasonic hammer drill is better balanced than festool a C type drills.

I honestly can't believe all fellow foggers buy festool C type drills.

I bought the festool C shape handle drill PD corded.  On the basis that so many foggers like the C type........  I wish I hadn't bloody HATE the C type.

Tell me why WHY whats good about C TYPE.! It's  sh i t! It's as simple as that.

It's totally out of balance extremely front heavy.  It's longer and just feels so awkward.

I have had it for over a year I think now and I still dislike it.  I find it hurts my wrist after long use where as I never did from using the T Shape.  I think this is due to its front heavy and long front so I have to use two hands to guide it onto a screw head.  I feel like I have the drill attached to a long pole and I'm trying to place it onto a screw head 2metres away.

If festool decided to make a T shape corded version I would instantly sell this C type one and buy the T!  Only reason I'm keeping it because I need a corded drill and this has speed and torque I require.

WRONG - I have owned several festool drills, though cool none until recently had near the power or overall value of the pany's.

The best drill ever made was made by Panasonic, IMHO. The best battery of all time made by Panasonic, IMHO. True, now they don't give the tools the attention they once did. But Panasonic is still one of the only tool companies to make their own battery cells. Bosch, Milwaukee, and Hitachi all use Samsung INR cells, Dewalt used Sanyo cells not sure if they still do, and Makita used  Sony cells last time I tore one apart.

Panasonic was making 3.2ah batteries for years before anyone caught up.  All the Panasonic drill drivers to this day are great values. For me the hall of fame cordless drill is the Panasonic EY6432. I still have my original drill and batteries from  years ago and they still work and hold a charge! Although it's a bit heavier than my newer Makita, Milwaukee and Festool drivers it works just as well! I have seen many people go through their Festool drills twice while I still used and am still using my old Panasonic.

There is a thread here at least 4 years old where  I was singing the praises of the Pany drill. The Festool drill we were comparing in that thread has fallen to the wayside with some people claiming issues and years later here I still have my trusted pany!

I ordered my Panasonic on November 15, 2003 from Amazon that's near 12 years! If my new 5.2 ah Festool batteries still work in 2027 I'll let you know. In 2003 the battery tech was nowhere near it is now, Panasonic was ahead of its time in cordless and their current cordless lineup are fine tools, as good as anyone would need for sure.

Making more than one thing is irrelevant, especially for Panasonic. They have proved this making great products in many of their divisions, tools being one of them. I dont love all the Pany tools, but I don't love all the Festool's either.

Also they make good flat screen TV's for a fair price especially plasma.  I made sure I got one of the last Panasonic plasma TV's when Panasonic decided to stop making them when Europe put a cap on TV POWER usage.

Couldn't agree more this model is powerful robust and perfectly balanced. We have several of these still in use with over 12years heavy factory production usage.  The newer models EY74A1LS3T 14.4V / 18V Dual voltage drills and impactors are IMO the best on the market today.

I can't see any one mentioning a corded hammer drill.  Unless I missed it.

How does a C type handle help while on a ladder? How is a C type more accurate than a T-type handle.

I think it's this post that has caused the stir. Panasonic are a great brand when it comes to making cordless hammer drills, drill drivers and impactors. They have been making C handle products for years that are superbly balanced and built to last.

That's not a hammer drill.

That's a percussion drill.  The original post of the cordless Panasonic is a hammer drill.

I assumed he was referring to my PD corded but he mentioned hammer so I thought he must be mistaken.  Not only that the way he said it why would any one buy a corded hammer drill he is clearly thinking of a hammer drill.  Not what the Festool PD CORDED drill is and that is mainly a drill driver and can be bought with or without a percussion  function. 

The reason I bought a corded because I work on oak which can be as big as 300mm+ square in size.  A battery will do the job but they don't last.  A hammer drill would not be a appropriate tool for this job.

Your PD drill is indeed not the correct drill to judge the C type. The cordless drills are smaller than the PD. Not sure if the PD is meant to be a one-handed drill anyway, the whole category of corded hammer drills sure isn't.

I favour the T type but I got me an old C12 a while ago next to my T15 and got used to it also. Nothing wrong with it.

Whether you like one type or the other is up to everybody personally, but dissing the type you don't like is just stupid because they're both very useable.

No they are not.

A hammer drill is a drill for hammering only and some do have rotary stop so you can use a chisel.

A percussion drill has drill/drive function.  The drill/drive function is its main feature and the percussion is the added extra for those times when you need to drill some holes in stone/concrete/brick with out the need to get the hammer drill out.  A percussion drill can not hammer with out rotation a hammer drill can due to how they work.  They are different

The festool PD can be bought with or without percussion feature. Mine came with although I didn't want that feature the dealer gave me a good price which he couldn't do with one which didn't have percussion because he would have to order the drill in.    So I thought suppose it might come in handy.
