Paper for RO90

I am thinking about getting a RO90, and am wondering what is the best paper to get for it. I am a hobbist who does woodworking - mostly furniture and cabinets. The Rubin says it is for wood, but only goes up to 180; people here on FOG seem to really like the Granat, but many of the posts are for uses (like stripping paint) that I will not be doing. Any advise?

(FYI, for most of my sanding now I am using a Ceros 5" with Abranet - love the Abranet, but it doesn't come in 3.5")

I use rubin up to 180, and then brilliant 220 and 320. There is a sale on sandpaper and sanders starting in a week or so- you could save 10%.

You can get 90mm diameter Vlies for the the RO 90 in 80, 100, 280, and 800. You can also get Platin 500, 1000, 2000, and 4000.

With the delta pad, you can get Vlies 120 & 280.

Typically, on bare wood, you would use Rubin up to 180 and then go to Brilliant. Brilliant can also be used on most finishes.

The Granat is definitely worth a try. It runs much cooler than even Abranet and will certainly last longer. Get a small pack and put them to the test. Brilliant 2 is also nice for wood finishing.

Granat is the paper of choice. It has the most versatility of any of the abrasives we offer and can be used for nearly any sanding task: bare wood, paint, solid surface, etc. I also has a very wide range of grits, up to 1500. It performs extremely well and keeps it cut longer than other abrasives, including those of competitors. If you're going to pick just one paper, choose Granat. It's that simple.

I like really like Granat in the lower grits (60,80, 100, 120 and 150), but honestly I have not been as impressed with 240 grit and higher.  It could be me, but it just does not seem to last as long or leave as good of a finish in the higher grits as Brilliant does, at least on unfinished wood.  The lower grits last a long time and it performed very well sanding glue lines without loading up.  Maybe it is a paper that works best if you do not skip any grits as I have not tried 220 -- I went right from 180 to 240 and I doubt that it would make a difference in finish quality.  Others have a different opinion, but I am going to stick with Brilliant for the 220 and above.
