I am a new Festool convert, having just purchased the TS 55, an extra guide rail and most recently the Parallel Guide Extension Set, which I am having an issue with.

Specifically, when I start the parallel guide onto the guide rail it fits tightly and is causing damage to the non-slip material on the bottom of the rail. I tried it on both guides and had the same result, the friction between the parallel guide and the sticky tape caused the tape to be pulled up and damaged.

I have viewed several videos on-line and the parallel guides always seem to slip right onto the guide rail. What I am doing wrong here?

First, welcome to the FOG.

Let's start the troubleshooting at the beginning.  Did you unlock the guide by turning to green knob counter clockwise on the top of the guide and flipping the lever on the bottom so it's 90 degrees to the guide?  If so, the next thing to try is to loosen the nut on the tab that attaches the locking lever on the bottom.  You won't need to loosen it much to get a little extra wiggle room.

Thanks for the fast response.

Yes the knob and lever were in the loose/open positions. I considered backing off the nut on the lever lock but shied away from that because there seemed to be so little thread securing the tee-nut. that is an easy fix.

Thanks again.
