Thanks to Ron Paulk for his design went with 18mm its heavier definitely but can manage to pick up myself still. I made one before from 1/2" a/c plywood, much happier with the 18mm plywood much nicer paid 491.00 just for wood at my local supplier

What was the price per sheet?  And how many aheets did it take to make the bench?

72.00 a sheet before tax and a total of 6 sheets had more than a half left over to make a Mft size table approximately 66"x31"did buy another sheet too finish Mft table off.

Sal Did you seal you're bench? I was just going to use johnsons paste wax on it. Any movement or twist with you're table seeing it's been two years just wondering how it's holding up for you? Is it 1/2"

I haven't sealed the table at this point, made my top and bottom out of 3/4 the rest 1/2. Haven't seen any twisting yet and I use the table on a daily basis either in shop or at the job site. Do most of my cabinet work onsite so I like the table for its ease of setup and take down

Anyone else here make one out of Baltic birch 18mm? Just wondering how it's held up for them?

Almost a year ago I made mine out of 12 mm Baltic… Solid as a rock. Each segment weighs in around 25 kg (~55 pounds).

Hardest thing was setting up the Kreg pocket screw jig for the thickness. In hindsight I would have done it with Domino’s.

Sealed it with linseed oil.

I bought the plans the other day. I love the design. And since I'm starting my own maker business, these will come in handy when I'm going from place to place.

How much heavier is the 3/4" compared to 1/2"? Is it worth the extra weight?

Beautiful job on the bench. As far as weight goes it's the difference.between lifting a sheet of 3/4" ply versus 1/2" . A 24" wide top and bottom plus the dividers is pretty much a full sheet for each half.

I'd say around 75lbs per section.

It truly looks amazing.  I love the expanse of the top!
But there's one tiny feature that I would miss from my MFT.
Sacrificiallity.  (new word)

I don't see that happening on yours, as well it should not.

.... thinking......  you'll probably just clamp up some scrap under the workpiece....  will work great, but not as convenient as  just ripping into it.

In the interests of preserving "sacrificiality" [big grin] I made a bunch of these for when I'm doing repetitive ripping and cross cutting on my table.
