Hi Guys.

Been trying to do the fence mod that PaulMarcel talks about here:-

Festool MFT - Part 2 - My Modified MFT

but when I tighten up the fence clamps the front of the fence lifts off the MFT surface a good 4-5mm or so. Like this:-

That's a 4mm shim under the fence  [eek]

It seems that the clamp bears against the bevelled edge of the MFT top, making the front edge lift:-

Anyone else had this problem and overcome it? Only thing I can think of is to take off the MFT top and trim the bevelled edge off - seems a bit drastic though!

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Thanks, Pete

Ah, the last picture has the key...

Unscrew the knob on the clamp.  There's a spring that will want to shoot a washer off and let it roll under the fridge so watch for that...

The black plastic part with the lip that clamps the fence down has 2 holes in it.  By default, the screw is in the hole closest the lip.  Move it to the hole furthest the lip and reassemble with a different washer since the other is too far under the fridge.

Here's a link to the original text article I wrote about it in case it has other details.

Good grief, sure glad I've since added softboxes for better lighting  [crying]

S'okay, mine went down the side of the sofa while I was putting all the parts together... (note to Festool - please start selling these pre-asembled)

A-ha! Genius, thanks. Not in the workshop right now but I think mine has three holes in it, with the screw in the centre one by default - though I may be mistaken. Whatever, I'll move it back and have another crack at it. Thanks for the blog link - hadn't seen that post, just watched the video!

Thanks so much for your help - much appreciated, as are your videos!

Cheers, Pete
