I am in the market for a new PDC 18, however I'm curious to know why they didn't put trigger activated LEDs on this drill? Is there a hope that version 2.0 will have LEDs like this?

A trigger light would be too easy.  Ive found the light almost useless with a 12" extension also.  Summary (for me),  the light is in the wrong place and requires extra work to turn it on and off.

I looked into this, and we got a lot of feedback from customers that most didn't feel that it was a trigger light was necessary for a tool like this. Additionally, omitting the light helps to lengthen the battery life.

99.99% of the time I don't need a light on my drill, but the 0.01% of the time it is useful I switch it on.

I guess if its used in a well lighted shop the light is a non issue, but inside a cabinet in a not so well lit remodel, the light is needed and useful.  I'm just spoiled by the makitas I've used for years.  I use a 12" extension to loosen screws in upper cabinets quite often and the light position on the pdc just don't work for this application.  With a normal length driver (3")  the light works well other than having to turn it on and off manually.
