I am trying to put something together for the day after connect at my shop about 2.5 hours north of Festool USA.

I don't drink beer though. Maybe a good bottle of Scotch.

Are we talking 12, 18 or 25yr old?

Think about who said it and the vintage of equipment he prefers .. anything less than 50 years is probably "young and possibly promising" [big grin]

He probably even has a 100 or 200 year old still [blink]

I have been enjoying The Macallan 12 year old for a while.

Really enjoyable scotch at what I consider a good price point, under 70 bucks a bottle.

Had their 25 year as well.

I would like to order a bottle of Lagavulin 16 sometime.

I also had a bottle of the 25yr Macallan that came in a wood box with leather hinges.  I paid just over $125.00 for it almost 20 years ago, and was shocked when I saw the current retail price.  Something North of $1,300.00.  Had I known 25yr old scotch was going to appreciate like that, I would have purchased all available in the store....

I also had a nice collection of the 18year, back when they printed the year it was bottled on the front.  I remember getting a kick out of drinking my "1973" version, which was the same year I jointed the Navy.    I thought it was a marketing mistake when they stopped doing that.

Now I drink the Glenlivet 12yr, to save money.

Talking about "old stuff" ;) I'm looking forward to uncorking this beauty in a couple of months...

Oliver, what is the upcoming occasion?

Way back in prehistoric days, back when I was in college (U-conn Hicks School of Ag), I had my car on campus.  Every Thursday nite, in the neighboring was the "Polish Hop",  with mostly Polka and some square dancing now and then.  Three of my fellow s--t kickers would go the the dances.  On the way, we would stop at a bar for one drink apiece.  It was always a big hastle to find parking on that nite, but i finally made a great discovery.  right in front of the police station was a no parking zone that was always empty.  I would park right in the middle of that area, he four of us would get out of the car, walk around the corner to the br, sit at a table and order drinks.  One beer, one seven and seven, one rye and soda and I would have a straight scotch. We would finish our drinks and march back to the car and head for the dance.  One nite, we had a new waitress who asked to see an ID.  Sha asked only my room mate for his ID. He was drinking the beer and was 21.  As she brought our drinks, the manager came over to ask if the waitress had checked all of us.  She replied that "No, she had not. She had thought the only one who was drinking beer would be most likely to be under age."  The manager asked for the rest of us to show our ID's.  The jig was up.  We paid our tabs, but left the drinks and walked out.  None of the other three of us were yet 21. I don't recall what brand of scotch I was drinking in those days, but it was fun while it lasted.  No more excitement of parking directly in front of police station in No Parking zone.  WE finally stopped going to the polka parties as it was now a rel problem finding parking at the dance.

Many happy returns, Oliver. I'd like to see what Festool or other boutique tools I'm sure you'll treat yourself to as a present to yourself.

Happy Birthday(belated) Oliver.  Just think, in another 9 years you will be as old as me.  ::)

LOL. :)

Thank you very much [member=44099]Cheese[/member]

In regards to that Champagne, it was incredible. I mean I guess you know that over such a long time the Champagne evolves to something completely different if compared to a young/currently sold vintage Champagne. It smelled like a sweet liquor/dessert wine but without the "thickness" and the taste, I really wouldn't know how to do all the flavors justice when describing them - simply amazing. But of course in the end it's kinda like a high stakes card game, you go all in when you open such a bottle. You did proper research, you bought from a reputable source but only when you open it you'll find out if its still drinkable and enjoyable - I feel like I hit a (royal) straight flush with this bottle. But that could be a completely different story with another bottle.

Kind regards,
Oliver
