Having seen the briefly-available new US catalogue, and the CT48, I just did a quick search to see if there was any info available online. The only place was the Festool Romanian site.

There are 2 CTL48's listed, firstly a CTL 48 LE:

[attachthumb=1]

And a CTL 48 LE B22:

[attachthumb=2]

Don't know what the B22 means, but it sure looks cool!

Note that these are NOT just the CT(L) 26/36 with a bigger container - they are a completely different design.

Unfortunately, babelfish doesn't translate from Romanian [mad] but for anyone who does understand it (anyone? Bueller... Bueller..... ) here are the links:

Bigger by 22L?  The black does look cool, but I prefer the aesthetics of the gray.

Good guess!!!

I've just noticed that on the enlarged pictures the part numbers are different. The first one is a CTM 48 E EC (CTM denotes that is has the airflow sensor), whereas the second is a CTM 48 LE EC B22. The LE means that it has the pneumatic switching facility instead of electric. The B22 may be just a code for a black tub instead of the standard grey? Or, it could mean something else entirely...

I much prefer the top design.I wish the ct22/36 where designed like that.  I prefer the low profile top where the systainer goes if the CT26/36 hey would be less tall.

well what an conundrum  [eek] , I wanted to buy a CT36, guess now I will hold off and see

I like this top more too. No hose garage makes it easier to haul around and doesn't make it look so massive. Strange they decided the larger model doesn't need a hose garage but the smaller models do.

I don't think that's strange at all - the hose garage is designed to assist in moving the vacs around from jobsite to jobsite. I guess their thinking is that a vac as large as this is going to be shop-based, and you won't be wanting to lug it around.

Now that's a BIG shop vac.  I think that I will sti stick with the 22 litre and 10 litre variations that I already have.

According to the data on that site, and comparing it to the CT36, it's only 44mm taller...

Festool vacs - now with tardis technology... [big grin]

So they should make it removable so people can make their own decision to what they thing is better for moving from jobsite to jobsite.  I think and I am one of them!  Alot of people who carry them from job to job prefer not the have the hose garage.  Well I know I prefer no hose garage!

Funny you found that info as I was going to say they dont look much taller than the CT36!  So imagine how small and portable the CT26 could be with out the crappy hose garage! I would say MORE portable without

You don't have to imagine -just purchase one of the older CT22s.  Personally I like the hose garaage -well, anyway, I like it on my CT Mini.

My CT26 is shop-based and my Domino Systainers live on top, rendering the garage practically useless except for storing the crevice nozzle.  For the odd time I need to transport it, I'd gladly pack the hose in a Systainer 4.

I own the CT22 and a CTL26

So I dont have to lol  I have thrown my CT22 garage in the garage! Ha      Just wish I could do the same with the CTL26.  I did look into cutting the CTL26 hose garage off but the handle in the CTL26 sticks up a alot also not like the CT22 where its flush.  So I would love the see these New Big vac designs on the CTL26 I would deffos buy one and sell my CTL26 thats how much I hate the hose garage. They are just useless like  Flair said

Maybe there will be an optional, add-on garage like with the CT22/33/44/55 series. Who knows. Anyway, it may not be much bigger than the CT36, but imagine it completely full of MDF, or worse, solid surface dust, and you probably wouldn't be able to lift it let alone carry it from the van...
