I visited the Festool Booth at the international woodworking show in Atlanta. Unfortunately they did not bring the Planex or the Planex Easy with them. I think it was the only 2 tools they chose not to bring. Their reps told me the Planex Easy was a lite version. According to them, I would be giving up comfort on sanding a 9 ft ceiling (needing to hold my hands at shoulder to head level with the Easy) and giving up the ease of working inside of areas like closets. I’d appreciate heaing from people who have used the Easy to know if they agree or regret not going with the Planex.
At the show, Festool introduced their version of the Dust Deputy Cyclone for their CT dust collectors. Prior to the show, a Festool rep indicated their cyclone, combined with my CT22, would allow use of the Planex/Planex Easy.
However, Festool is only claiming 80% efficiency on their cyclone. So I’d still have to purchase a 36AC at about $1000. Oneida claims 99 % efficiency on their cyclone designed for the Festool CT line. If Oneida is wrong, and I still need the 36AC, I’d like to take advantage of package savings purchasing it together with the Planex.
I just watched the OP’s video. Has Festool updated the design of the Planex? I was clearly told by 2 reps at the IWF Atlanta show that both sanders have brushless motors. They also said the Easy was really only designed for walls and occasional ceiling use on 8 ft ceilings. Now I’m wondering if these men ever operated a Planex or Planex Easy.
