Either I don't know how to search effectively, or people are not having as many problems with the planex as me. Anyway, I'm getting some significant head wobble with the planex even without sand paper. Either the pad is not balanced or the entire tool is not balanced. I have a feeling it's the pad so I'm going to replace it. Any other suggestions?

I suggest you contact your Festool service center and speak with a product specialist on the phone. He can help you find out what exactly goes wrong and how it can be helped. Don't just buy a new pad, because if that wasn't the problem you'd just be throwing money away.
