Planex with ct36 ac dust problem

Posting my short term fix until I get the seal kit.  On the left, the longer seal that nests in the cover. On the right the weather stripping I trimmed to fit in the groove that nests in the vacuum unit.  This fix stops (in my case sheet rock) dust from being pumped into atmosphere.

Also, I previously posted an incorrect p/n for the seal kit.  The correct p/n is 496256.

As listed in the Festool Catalogue of parts the seal kit is $25.40.  Hopefully they will sell me one, $25.40 < $40.60. To bad you have to call to order parts.  Wait until Monday I guess.

Cheers

When you call ask to talk to the service department and explain what has gone on, give them the part number for the gasket set and go from there.  Something just doesn't seem right and am wondering if there was an error on their part.

Peter, thanks for the suggestion. I got you covered.

When I originally wrote (an e-mail), called (Customer Support), and then obtained an RO# (Festool online) I referenced this thread and the part number of the seal kit I needed.

When I returned the vacuum unit I enclosed a copy of the original e-mail in the box. To reiterate, in the email I identified this thread with a link, listed the part number and nomenclature of part (wrong part number by one digit, correct nomenclature) plus pictures of the vacuum unit where the seal is supposed to be.

Not sure what else I should have done.  It probably did not help that I cleaned the vacuum unit up before I returned it.  Should not have tried to blow out the motor.  The instructions on returning products implied to me that they should be clean. So, I cleaned it.

Regardless, I followed all of Festool's instructions and gave more information than required.    I don't plan on calling customer support again.  Why should they believe me?  I just want the vacuum fixed in the simplest, most time effective way.  I think getting the seal kit, and installing it myself, is/was the best path forward.  I almost ordered that kit instead of calling Festool originally. What a waste of time this has been.

If the vacuum fails in the future because of the dust it injested, hopefuly it will do so during the warranty period.  Obviously, my first experience with Festool has been a memorable one.

Cheers
Thx Peter

So, decided to communicate with Festool one more time.  Arg...

Who knew that sastification was waiting?  Do not know the name of the representative I spoke with but she took care of everything.

She remunerated me for the seals I ordered.
She let me know that the tech who worked on my vacuum had replaced the motor. (:
She told me the repair records indicated that the tech who worked on my vacuum believed that a bag or filter had not been properly inplace.  ?????
She looked up this thread while we were on the phone to gather more information.
Neither the motor replacement nor statement of cause was clearly listed on the repair card posted previously.

Eventually I received the seal kit and installed both seals.  They fit perfectly. See pics below. The vacuum is working perfectly now.

The lesson to learn here, if you keep calling Festool enough times you might find an angel to help you.
