plug cutter for prefinished wood

i wouldnt be putting the domed plugs in the rebate , they would be on the thicker face.

do video jmb showing your idea. it should work. problem then is i would have to continue that all around all the rooms

I always have two screws as far apart as possible which means it would have to be in the rebate because to many times ive seen frames have cupped round.

Not saying its wrong just screwing on the thicker face only just not the way  I do it.

I gotta admit I know I do go over board my average amount of screws in a frame is 22 screws  [embarassed]

Of course in Oak I wouldnt screw that many.  just crappy softwood.

2 rows of 5 down each side and 2 in the middle in the top of the frame.   Most I have ever seen is 16 in a standard frame by another joiner and average  is 12   and the lowest is ive seen is 6!  Crazy!

Any way!

Dont you have any OAK? to try it out on dude?!?!?

i think 22 screws i pushing it a bit. i usually do(on a hollow core door)  3 on the thicker part on both sides and 1 behind each hindge. i only screw the top if it is into a stud. usually a lot more on a fire door

i have often had to fix frames better after other joiners fitted them. because of not enough screws

These set of french doors and frame where custom made and fitted by me and my mate.

I used the the Metal bracket method on this frame so it has NO fixings on show at all.

The bottom section of the frame you can see only looks about 10mm from the oak floor side because I wanted it low profile so its rebated to allow the floor to go inside and has expansion gap inside.

The bottom section of the frame is actually 55mm thick but only 35mm sticks above concrete   because their was a hole from when the brick wall was was taken out as it use to be a window so I thought it would be best to concrete the bottom frame section in instead of drilling holes through the bottom part of the frame to fix it.   It has straps on the bottom which where concreted in so it cant come out again  [big grin]

Maybe bit of over kill but I never like french doors with anything less than a multi lock so I recommended that they where used on the doors.

also it has a aqua mac seal around the frame another thing I like to have on frames.

i never get anything good. usually just the same boring 2nd fix jobs.

Cheers!

Also lol it has double glazing A rated rubber spacers lol  [embarassed] They are  tenoned with wedges not Dominoned lol    The internal french doors are pretty much built like external french doors lol

i agree about the multi point locking. nothing worse than  rattly french doors
