Plunge saw is more versatile than my router

Hello all this is my first post on the forum but I've been lurking for a while

I'm a 20 year old chippy from the uk

I've got all the tools I need for the trade, but I've been using my plunge saw for everything,

Rebates in sheet goods trimming doors ripping 8x2 long ways cutting up floors for access

Everyone says that the router is the most versatile tool but I think the plunge saw is

What's people thinking on FOG,

[welcome] to the FOG Nathan!  My most used Festool is my CT-22 because it gets used with almost all of my other Festools, but other than that I reach for my TS-55 the most often.  My guess is that others' opinions will vary based on exactly what they do the most often.  A router, with a large selection of bits is pretty versatile and can create moldings and cuts that can not be done with a saw.

My router stays in the shop now and my saw travels with me.  [big grin]

Apart from my drills my Ts55 is never far away (won't even send it for its third year service)

Don't think there'll be much arguement ... A saw is a primary tool.

Yup I agree. As useful as routers are I think a plunge saw will get far more work on site. I suppose it depends on what type of environment you're working in, ie shop or site but ya, very useful tool.

My TS-55 does the initial prep work before I can use any of the others Festools e.g. routers, Domino, sanders, etc.

The plunge saw was my first purchase (and would be again), it is also my most used.  However, the Domino is my favorite!

Yeah - the saw, MFT and CT are the three core tools in my opinion.  A sander is probably next fol.owed by a router, drill and Domino.  The saw was my first purchase.  I really like the OF2200 as my favorite Festool, though.  I would buy the saw again as a first Festool as you pretty much need it to do your sizing cuts for any project.
