Pocket doors for cabinets hardware

Hi,

I considering a kitchen cabinet with pocket doors. The doors would be 60’’ high. Still figuring out what makes sense for width.

Does anyone here have experience with pocket door hardware and cabinet construction? So far I found 3 good options for cabinet hardware.

1. Hawa Concepta looks like very high quality but the hardware alone easily costs 1-2k depending on your configuration.https://www.hafele.com/us/en/produc...doors-hawa-concepta/00000134000044bb00030023/

2. Salice Exedra seems like a good alternative. However, I have problems figuring out whether the hardware is available in the U.S. and what the costs are. Any experience with Salice Exedra?

3. Blum Pocket systems looks attractive but is still in development and very little information is available. Apparently, they want to show the system again in May 2021 but unclear when it will be available and how much it will cost.https://www.blum.com/eu/en/products/news-specials/pocketsystems/

Any alternatives or other advise about pocket door systems?

according to woodworkers express the Salice is discontinued.  Salice exedra

When I was googeling I saw a price of $833ish from woodworkers ex. In the google results. I see in the link it looks like they are sold as left and right hand versions so Im guessing its 833 each.  Anything Blum puts out is going to be just as if not more expensive.  Its a neat system but looks like its got a lot of potential to be a p.i.t.a. both install and possibility of future failure.  I of course dont know that for sure and it might be the total opposite but It's an expensive gamble.

Accuride 1432 is under $100 per set, I have never installed it but it there seems to be little margin for alignment error.

So, with a little extra poking around I found this system from accuride Accuride pocket/flipper doors
It looks like you will need 2 of the parts linked plus the "hinge carrier that spans between the upper and lower slide but it looks muuuuuuuch cheaper than the others.  Looks like they have a few different models depending on door height and width. I didnt spend a lot of time researching but if you end up using them let me/us know how it went.

For me, hands down winner is the KV 4x4 8090.
No cable to stretch or get loose and you buy an appropriate length rod instead of making a follower strip. Works on rack and pinion.

Yes, I agree I hadnt seen those. I have never done any pocket/flipper doors before but was shocked at the 2k pricing the KV and accuride are at least affordable.  Have you installed the KV before ?  How was the install/adjusting/long term durability?

I've used the HAWA system and it's great.  As long as you (client) can afford the price.  Your first one is likely to take you twice as long as you think it will to install, even if you factor conservatively.  I know or first one did, and we spent two days at the factory playing around with mockups along with the product manager before I even sat down to figure install hours.

I hear ya, but its a hard sell for me to spend 2k on one pair of cabinet door hardware.  The KV's look pretty good especially for the price.  I may get some down the road just to experiment with and do a few mockups.  says 75# so thats a good size door.  I wonder if an extra slide can be installed mid way to beef them up more if needed.  I was toying with the idea of a juice bar in the next kitchen remodel and thought those might work well to cover it when not in use but I can find better use for 2k for sure.

Thanks! I am sure HAWA is better at that price point. What are the best resources you found on cabinet construction and installation? I watched some videos from the company and looked at the instructions a little. I can already see that this is a big time investment. The planing tool is useful but currently not available if you want soft closing. 

I am still interested in finding out more about Salice Exedra, which seems to be at a lower price point. The "discontinued" notice on woodworkers express might be there because Salice recently updated their system. Right now, I think Hawa Concepta 25 costs $1,196.80 for a single, non-folding door (1250-1850mm) and Salice Exedra $833 (based on what afish found). Even figuring that out takes time with many different models, configurations etc.
