Pocket hole jig

In the market for new pocket hole jig, been looking at the Kreg stuff. Which one shall I'll get??? I want one for first task, putting together my Ron Paulk bench, already cut ;).
Other stuff, face frames, FF to cabinet simple jigs etc.

I really like my Kreg K5 jig!  I prefer the front control so I can't really recommend the K4 but I also have a K3 and really like that as well.  The benefit of the K5 is the far easier adjustment of material thickness to the clamp of the jig!  I (along with many others) would be happy to answer any specific questions you may have!

Bob,  you've had the K5 in use for a couple months now , right?  How is it holding up?

Bob,  you've had the K5 in use for a couple months now , right?  How is it holding up?

Yep had it since just after it came out!  It's holding up great!  I love the auto adjust to switch depths of material. It's super quick. The dust collection port is smaller than on the K3...I have to pick up a reducer or something that fits. The only odd thing that I've found is the "set up block" for the depth drill seems that it was setting my bit too deep. I backed it up a hair and it's all good now!
 
Maybe it is my old age catching up to me.do not like set up.I have the k-4 and had it for awhile. Not to long ago I bought the Porta Cable. When it got here I thought for sure I was going to send it back because of the size of it. But never did. If I have to do some quick pocket holes I find myself just pulling it off the shelf, drill the holes put it back on the shelf.It's that easy. No adjusting at all except the very first time you put the stop collar on the drill bit.I do not have a large area to work in so I use a tool and put it back and go to the next and I try to eliminate set up.That may stop me from doing certain things. Getting out my Kapex I found a fast way to do it. After trying a couple of stands, I now use the Bosch Gravity Rise. No bending. No lifting, No pulling out legs. Maybe I am just getting to old. The price of the Porter Cable is more, but I think it is a nice set up.
 
I have the same. It's a bit of a faff to change thickness of material, and don't even get me started on whipping it out to do something freehand. That's at the cost of it being exceptionally solid though I guess.

I'm supplementing it with a handheld Kreg Mini. Just hope they use the same bit size.
 
I ordered the UJK last month based on user comments on axminster, still wasn't delivered though.
It is to replace my Trend jig because that one is limited to 16mm thick, what i also like about UJK is that they have a range of TX20 screws, so no more Robinson for me!
They can be used on Kreg though, even if it's a tight fit.

If i had known about the Kreg K5 when i ordered i would have given it a second thought.
 
Do any of these jigs use readily available screws like standard sized panhead etc or are they all specialist screws?
 
If you can get the Kreg Jig R3, it's less expensive, but quite capable.  I built an entire handicap ramp using the predecessor to the R3, including handrails and ramp ten years ago.  There were only six nails used in the entire ramp.  It's no slouch.

The Kreg Jigs use Robertson drive washer-head screws that hold quite well.

Having trouble finding all the Kreg gear in the UK it doesn't look like it's all available. Looking at the K4MS kit approx £100.
Interesting no mentioned the Trend one.
 
I got a old model Kreg Jig, alloy body no dust control etc.

I love it. But my good friend was looking for one and I recommended the K-4

EBAY has a lot of kreg stuff.
 
I've got the older PC pocket hole jig  with the bushing in the back for drilling a pilot hole. Nice little unit.
 
I have the R3, which was an pretty cheap way to go, and it works extremely well.  I built my own large MFT and put it together with pocket holes.  It is very solid.  I started with the Mini, which I had bought a few years back.  You can use regular clamps with the jigs but the Kreg clamps are great.  I had one of the standard 3" face frame Kreg clamps and then bought the 6" Automaxx (auto adjusting) model.  It really makes pocket hole joinery fast and easy. Also added the right angle clamp but have not used it yet.
