Polystyrene Tray for Systainer II & III

Does anyone know if the universal tray fits in the bottom of a Systainer II or Systainer III?  Maybe with some modification (e.g. sanding or trimming)?

There is a picture on the Lee Valley website that shows the universal tray in a Systainer II, but it appears to be resting on something.http://www.leevalley.com/us/Wood/page.aspx?p=68753&cat=68749

What I would like to do is have the universal tray in the bottom of a Systainer II for some smaller items and then be able to put coiled power cords on top of the tray.

If you put the universal tray in a Sys- II there will be 30 - 40mm above the tray and within the bottom portion of the Systainer available. Power cord should be no trouble.

Yes, it looks like the picture has something under the tray holding it up.

A Tanos catalog that I found last night only showed the universal tray with the Systainer I.

T-loc Systainers all have the same bottom dimensions other than height.

You could also make a template and cut all the bottom parts you want and build as many trays as you want. I like using plastic.

I have migrated Festool tool inserts from the old style to the T-locs - not the same as these but for their tools.  I typically had to do a small amount of trimming for the ribs, but no major surgery to get them to fit -

Just trimming on the flange that goes around the compartments?  That wouldn’t be too bad.  A small dowel with sandpaper should work and leave some nicer looking rounded notches.

I used side-cutters and cut a V notch on the vertical ribs. 

I seem to recall there was some slight trimming at the front where center indentation is.

Maybe 5 minutes of 'surgery' and they fit fine with the ones I had to do - around 5-6 tools were migrated over.

From what has been posted here and looking at some pictures, I expect to clearance the universal tray for vertical ribs that are in the Systainer II because I want the tray to sit on the bottom.

I ordered both the tool tray and the universal tray for the T-Loc Systainer from Lee Valley.  A secondary benefit is that I could use the tool tray, which is advertised for the Systainer II, as a template to trim the universal tray.  Buying both is still less money than the Tanos dividers from Woodcraft.
