I started a project in Cape May NJ this week.

First on the list is to remove popcorn ceilings in the living room, dining room, kitchen, stairwell and a bedroom. Also two of the vaulted ceiling surfaces did not meet at the corners nice so we are adding another layer of drywall and redoing the corners. Below are some pictures of the living room and stairwell in progress

The ceiling height is at 14' so I found the easiest way to work was using a second scaffold to sit the 36ac, Planex and Ro90 as I moved around the room. I could cover about an 8x10 area from each position and then move it to the next spot. I used 80 grit to do the removal with the soft pad and and interface pad. I plan on skimming joints and any problem areas and then going over with 150 to make ready for paint. I used the Ro90 with delta pad to clean up corners and edges and used the round pad in Rolex mode to remove the built up compound at the corner that had to be redone.

Should be some fun over the next 5 weeks or so, yes there is that much to be done. [big grin]

That is some pretty serious ladder work!

Dang dude! Be careful up there. Tie off the tools so they don't crash.  [scared]

Yea not real fun standing on the plank and looking up. It's not so much the fall down 2/3 stories that scares me it's all the things I could hit on the way down! [scared]

Whoa, that is some serious ladder work man! Stay safe, are you staying down there or are you commuting?

You say you used the soft pad, I was wondering about that, the festool site doesn't do a good job of saying if the pad is different in the kit or if its just the interface pads that make it soft.
And cool freaking job dude

Thanks!

This is the first job I am using the interface pads and the "soft" pad. Comparing it and the standard one I can tell that the thickness of the soft is thinner, I'm guessing to allow space to add one or two of the interface pads. The "soft" pad itself felt stiffer then the stock pad but maybe my stock pad has broken in some with use?

I thought "soft pads" meant for him to land on.  [poke] [popcorn] [popcorn] [popcorn]
maybe standard equipment for that job should include a parachute. [unsure]
or Bungee rope.  ;D

Back on the job today...

I had to change up my plan of attack for the kitchen and dining ceilings. They had a nice coat of paint over the popcorn. So I used 36 grit, turned the speed down to about 2.75 and knocked the texture down. Then I switched the extraction to the center of pad and let the tool do the work. Swapped back to 80 and it is ready for a skim coat.

The Planex amazes me everyone I use it, it is a wonderful piece of equipment! [big grin]

I also had the chance to try out my new depth stop chuck for my c12, it also works well. It was really nice not worrying about another cord.

Nice man!! Those walls are gnarly and those speakers look like they could use some updating  [eek]  [big grin]

Here are the ceilings completed. Had a few changes along the way, more lighting and new speakers. (More then just speakers now, whole home audio by 3pedalMINI)

Still waiting on client to decide on finishes for the new archway and fireplace surround.
