Peter by the looks of it that is above the entrance way and mist likely staircase hence the velux rooflight.Peter Halle said:A shed roof would be the most traditional approach. The bedrooms are either side with a bridge connecting the two sides of the house, heres a rear view.

Other choice is to land the bottom of the ridge about 6" above the top of the fascia. This will give you a small layover on the roof. I think that would look pretty good.

This is my house. Im not saying to do what I did exactly but that's the idea for the center section with he roof continuing straight down to the edge of your porch.
