I got thrown under the bus on this one.

The spring collector car auction was fast approaching when I was asked to come out and take a look at things.

http://www.auctionsamerica.com/

I went out there the last day of April, I believe.  I picked up the rough sawn oak on the 3rd of May and delivered these things on the 12th.

There were a few things I wanted to do that I had to eliminate and some things I will be doing to them before the next auction.

So Darcy, what did you wind up buying at this place?  [big grin]

I see from the third to last picture, you got that guy from Ohio who likes to dunk his tools.

Nothing started low enough for me to afford.

I saw a few things go for over 500k when I was out there for a few hours.

Reggie Jackson's Shelby GT 350 went for 235k.

Darcy,

Congrats!  Way to go guy!  I assume your heavy iron came into play.

I've built a few bars like this for trade shows and whatnot. The bar's look great. are they able to be flat packed in between shows?

They come apart in sections, heavy sections. [big grin]

The big one will probably stay there for a long time but, you never know when it might have to be moved.

The 7' long one in the VIP area will be taken out and stored until it's next use.

Yes it did.  I got it all up and running just in time too.  I still spent some time fiddling with the adjustments on my planner and jointer getting them dialed in while I was trying to process lumber.

I never want to be under that much time constraints again.

I can't stand killing myself due to other's delay or lack of planning or whatever reason.  I'll no longer do that to myself, I did that for years working in a commercial photo studio - how many Xmas eves did I work and how many weeks of working 8am-2am 7 days a week...

Never again.

Bars look great!

Fun project aside from the timing, easy, simple, looks good and immediately put to use.

I agree but, there are always exceptions and this was one of them.

I am trying to get a bunch more custom work out at the auction park.

Nice, You should have incorporated your name into the bars for some advertising. Probably a lot of good potential clients around there! A good place to hand out flyers for custom garage cabinets.

That third to last shot really was shot from a perfect angle, you must have some photography experience.

Nice work! You could take that VIP bar on the road to Festool gatherings.

Thanks guys.  I was pretty happy I got them delivered in time.  The counter tops were still pretty stinky on friday but, people drinking didn't notice.

I will take some updated pictures after I add the panel mouldings, bar rail and rub a finish on it.

What are the counter tops made of, finished with?
In one photo I can see some texture that makes it look like stone.

They are formica.

I was looking for the color but, I cant find it.

It was textured and it was a black background with some dark red in it.  I didn't pick it out but, it ended up looking pretty good.

Ya, I agree. I think the thickness is just right.
