Does anyone have THIS Drill Guide or something similar to it?  I am looking for one to drill 20mm holes in my bench top for bench dog holes.  I am almost complete with my cabinet makers bench and I will be posting pictures of it soon.

I know a tool like this is something that I will only use once or a couple times in my life so I want to purchase a used one or borrow it if someone is willing to do that.  I also need a 20mm forstner bit that you can't find in retail stores but you can find them online.  I'm sure I won't use that 20mm bit but only for this application or just a couple times.

If anyone can recommend another way to drill these holes in my top, let me know.

Thanks.

Dave,

You could drill them, but you'll never get them precise.

I used a router method when I made mine - it's detailed HERE, pictures and a video.

You need to have an existing MFT top to use as a template, but from memory I think you have that already?

Jon,

I do have one but I was looking to do something a little faster but thats a good thought and I might go down that road.  If I do, I will end up make a template on the cnc instead of using the MFT top

If you have access to a CNC router, then why are you even thinking about doing it any other way?

Edit: My apologies - I've just re-read your original post. On first reading, I thought you were wanting to make an MFT-style bench. If you're just wanting a few holes, rather than a full matrix, then just drill it by hand.

Because I don't want to lug around a top of that size.  Plus I don't have anything to transport it.

I used the Festool 20mm router bit 491072 with my own 30mm hole template the template used the 30mm Hinge Location Cutter 491075

If you stay with the 20mm holes on a 96mm matrix you will find it gets more and more useful.

And to make all the 20mm holes in my shop saw horses

I made an adjustable hight roller ball support and with the same matrix it fits beautifully on and locks into any of the system components.
