Portable Mitre Saw. Kapex alternatives.

The Festool SYM-70 mitre saw is small, lightweight, very accurate and has good dust collection. I use this more than the Kapex as it is so portable.

So can I then put this onto the outlet on the CT26 and put a small lamp on it to turn the vacuum on? or does it draw enough to start the vacuum, and I need to put the vacuum into it?

Plug the Remote outlet into a power source.Switch your vac to the on position.Plug your Vac. into the remote outlet.You can mount the remote switch onto the saw or anywhere convenient

So your vac will act as  a power supply.

Can't speak highly enough about the Bosch GCM 8 SDE.

Variable speed. Excellent dust extraction due to twin dust chutes (one fixed at the back and one that travels as the baked slides, and excellent build quality/accuracy. Also good capacities for an 8" bladed saw.

All for £350. Makes you wonder what warrants the expense of the Kapex.

Guys I have two of the FastCap remotes and they work great for your vacuums which is how I use them on the jobsite. The problem with them is their limited to controlling tools witch draw 10amps or less. If you use them to control a tool and vac and the total amps is over 10 the remote gets hot and will get cooked and stop working.

Excellent, thanks for the info.The Bosch does look a cracking compact saw.

Have you used the Makita? Just wondering how they compare. Seen some great reviews on it but also seen one or two comments suggesting the latest saws can have issues with the saw not sliding smoothly along its rails.

I think we were talking about just running the Vac only with them since the saw is cordless

Here's where i mounted my remote with velcro on the Metabo. Works great!

Man, that Bosch looks great.  NAINA, of course.  I would buy that in a heartbeat.  I've been eyeing the 8" that Bosch sells in the States, but it appears that they went out of their way to actually remove the dust collection features that they offer in the UK.  What does that say about the average American tool buyer?  We must seem like a bunch of Neanderthals to the folks selling us stuff.

[member=4306]tomba26[/member] What about hitachi c10fsh? Similar capacity to kapex but at 43lbs its lighter. I love mine its very very smooth unlike the new dewalt lumpy sliders we have at work. Its obviously not as efficient at catching dust like kapex though.

About the only fault i can find with it is that if you push it slightly and the little stabiliser bar on the back of the base slips off whatever its sitting on, that puppy is going to tumble like its in a drier.

Used my 120 for the first time today properly cutting 250mm skirting  thoughts:-
Fine angle  adjustment great
Hold down clamp didn't  think I'd  use it but used it loads
No wander on mitre cuts
Angle finder tool very useful

Only  thing with the wings 3m boards hard to support when that wide especially  when trimming the ends.

Definitely  a great second fix saw.

Ps made sub fences as per Peter parfitt but ended up removing the to cut mitres on rhs of the saw
