Enjoy the sailing - and the maintenance.

Already spent a few boat bucks and I am all geared up for maintenance tasks....Always be ready and prepared...

You'll find Festool equipment invaluable for the maintenance, especially the RO150 sander - great for anti-foul removal and for topside polishing.
Enjoy your sailing - I am sailing again from March, really looking forward to it!

You bought a suction cup, a scraper, and scuba gear?

In the San Francisco Bay, the gunk on the bottom of the boat acquires quickly. Vis is craptastic, and bottom cleaning is a lot of physical work.

Well they are equally expensive and one addiction feeds of the other... I now see a Shinex in the future....

I am looking at Hammer and Felder equipment... Festool is a gateway drug indeed!!

Has anyone experience with a Shinex and polishing GelCoat/Fiberglass?

What kind of polishing compound to use?

Gonna bring my Capri 22 down from the winter spot to where I live on 3/18 and am planning on doing a lot maintenance stuff myself including polishing/buffing.

Alternatives to a Shinex...?

Alternatives...Flex 3401 or the 21mm Rupes polisher. The former has a shorter 8mm throw but a forced rotation a la Rotex. The later doesn't but has a 21mm throw instead. My familiarity is in car polishing (not boats).  There I prefer the Rupes because it's smoother and handles a little better. I don't need the torque that the Flex provides. With the boat the Flex might be a better choice.

Congrats on the boat!
