Power Cord Question

I know there are two different amp power cords.

How do you tell the difference between them?

What cord for what machine?  Can you just use the greater amp cord all the time?

What are the two amp ratings?

The two types are 16 gauge and 18 gauge.  The 18 gauge has a added plastic piece to keep it from being used in tools that need the 16 guage cord.  You can use the 16 guage with all the tools.

The gauge is printed on the cord. the 16 gauge is usable on all tools
