Pre-order the ETS EC 125 & ETC EC 150 Sanders for October Delivery

Does this mean the $195 ets 125 will be discontinued?

@Taylor_mann,

No, sir. All of the existing sander models will continue to be offered.

These sanders offer a more compact design thanks to the more powerful and efficient brushless motor. Brushless motors last longer, which is especially helpful in a production environment.

All of the ETS EC sanders have 400W motors compared to 200W in the ETS 125 and 310W in the ETS 150s. Also, the new ETS EC 125 has a 3mm stroke, compared to 2mm on the ETS 125, so it's a more aggressive sander. Better suited for general purpose use whereas the ETS 125 is strictly a fine finish sander.

Thank you Shane. The description for the ETC EC 150 says: "The ETS EC 150/5 provides a high quality, swirl-free sanding finish with a random orbital 3mm stroke."

Shouldn't that read a 5mm stroke?

Yes, thank you, it should. I'll correct.

I would like a DEROS comparison, if anyone in the UK or a dealer has used both let us know!

Shane

Is the plug it cord in the sleeve the one that works with the ts55? And I assume it is the 27mm hose?

[member=733]Woodenfish[/member], the cord is the 16 gauge Plug-It version, which will work with all of the tools, including the TS 55. The hose is a tapered hose with the largest diameter at 32mm and the tool end at 22mm.

Get Shane,

Is there a 5m option?  Also can you get the 3.5m without the Systainer?  I only see 2 options on the site.

Cheers. Bryan.

Bryan,

Currently this is what Festool USA has announced. No 5m option, nor an option to get it without the Systainer.  [unsure]

An alternative is the Techflex Gorilla Sleeve that we offer by the foot.

Huge price difference, looks like the green one is less expensive.

I'm sure these target the Mirka market, and the price reflects that.

I hear there's a teardown comparison video of both in the works.  [blink] [bite tongue]  HA!

Anyone looking at the Mirka would be well served to check these sanders out. Remember, Festool gives you 30 days to buy and try with  a no-risk return option.

Is there going to be a price drop on the current ETS 125 and ETS 150 models to clear stock in preparation for the new models?

[member=18233]jbasen[/member], nothing has been announced by Festool USA regarding any price changes for existing models. But, my guess is that the pricing will remain the same for the current sander models. The new model will just expand the sander lineup, not replace any of the existing sanders.

Any way to order the sleeve by itself? I bought the Mirka Deros 2 months ago, no looking back, it's a fantastic sander. Would have had a look at the ETS EC had it been out at the same time. I would like to get the sleeve for my RO 150 and TS 75.  [popcorn]

No, and I think the reason is this hose only comes with the sleeve. It's a tapered hose. You cannot use the standard hose.

But...

Will the new hose clog easier on a TS 55 as it's 22mm rather than 27mm?
What is the reason that Festool changed to the smaller hose, as 27mm has been a staple for years?

[member=44099]Cheese[/member], I think generally speaking the debris produced by the TS saws is in the form of dust. Not really chips. So, I would guess that it would not be any more prone to clogging. With a planer or router, possibly.

I don't have the inside scoop anymore, but I would hypothesize that the change is for a couple of reasons. 1) The smaller diameter makes it easier to manage the hose at the tool end being smaller and lighter. 2) The competition has taken notice that Festool is winning the dust collection game so there will be more interest in this area for tool manufacturers. In order to continue to differentiate and evolve, a tapered hose may yield better collection.

That said, the tool and CT connectors have not changed and therefore are backward compatible.
