Apart from the suction hoses, dust filter and splinterguards, are there any other differences?
I read somewhere there are/or were some models without motor brake but festool website does not show that.

I don't know anything about these new saws, but the B in EBG (and all Festool nominations) stand for Brake. So the EBG model has a brake, and the EG doesn't.

Spart from what you and Alex points out, the EG version don’t have the filter, nor the variable speed control. It’s fixed at 4200 reppems, no load.

So in short, the EG version is missing:
Variable speed control (Wood only?)
Motor filter (Wood only?, Aluminium demands lower speed too)
Splinter guards
Possibly, but not confirmed; no brake? Confirmed, no brake. See snip from manual below:
Dust extraction hose.

So what is the G stands for?

I am still trying to figure that out myself.

I wish Festool would make a wiki on their website where they explained these codes. Once in a while they invent a new one and the first two years everybody's just trying to figure out what they mean this time again.
