Has anyone here used the Preval paint system?  I picked one up at HD the other day to touch up some areas that would look better sprayed without getting my Earlex out.

Curious to see if it is worth testing.  Plan on touching up various projects where I would rather not brush or roll.

I use Preval regularly on cabinet installs for minor touch ups.  It's a great little system.  As with all spraying, be sure to test spray on scrap first;  I've found that the spray heads can be a bit inconsistent from unit to unit.

I have use them before
they all right but they do get clog up
so you need to switch to another unit
You also need to thin pretty hard when using solvent based so be aware
I use my CAT jr with pps cup now

I've used it at work to paint a number of items with latex paint and automotive paints. In my experience, the paint had to be thinned more than you would expect. When I shot semi gloss and flat indoor latex on a perforated surface, it was cut with water it a skim milk consistency. Maybe even more than that. My workspace is warm and humid so as you deplete the propellant, it becomes cold and the nozzle starts to spit paint. Then I had to let the can warm up a bit then I  continued painting.

In between coats I soaked the nozzle and back flushed the system. One time I let it sit and the nozzle clogged a bit and I had a fun time getting it cleared. Lesson learned.

If I had paint an area that required more than a can of propellant, I would use an airbrush. I have no experience with HVLP systems.

IMO, you should NOT treat it like a rattle can. The contents in the glass jar is NOT pressurized. Do NOT turn it upside down and spray to clear the nozzle. Have the V-notch at least 90 degrees from the spray nozzle.

TO Clean......Hold a finger over the nozzle and press to spray. This will clean the nozzle and the tube into the jar. Then separate the can from the jar and spray again.

I have used them and they work good for spot spraying and small projects. Great for using a thin toner coat.
