Death, taxes, Festool inflation.

Inflation is an investor's best friend.... and festool is an investment.

Don't kid yourself. These aren't classic cars.

I am kidding [laughing] but in light of the price increase, my small fortune of festools looks a little bigger.  I still consider what I have an investment though because these tools make me money!

I don't think you understand the true definition of investment ... If you are running a business it's more like its a capital expense depending on how you do your accounting ... Now your shop could be considered an investment.

HA.... Ok the first part is funny when you say it like that... I will still disagree with the second part...

First two things I looked for were the drills and the routers. Thankfully I already have the CXS and I the other drills aren't going up.

Second thing was the OF1010 router which is the only one not going up. Yay! I can live with the 2-6 % increases. Do I like them? No of course not. I understand them and I'm not hesitant to spend my money on this brand, who allows me to have the smallest fleet of tools in the smallest space possible yet complete my projects in the most efficient manner.

You paid a wholesale price set by Festool for the stock you already have in your procession prior to April 1.  Festool should allow that existing stock to be sold at the pre-April 1 retail price.

Any new stock you receive after April 1 should be sold at the new retail price.

I know that increasing the price on all stock is what Festool requires.  I am just saying that I do not agree with that.

And then you have to do the same thing next year again. On the long run, it makes no difference.

I guess I need to contact my insurance agent and increase my replacement cost coverage for my Festools - I have a separate rider for them.

Not surprised by the percentages.

Anyone who considers themselves poor probably isn't buying Festools with or without a price increase.

On the upside, it means that the people that purchased during the Kapex sale saved even more... :)

Makes me wonder how many more Kapex's would have been sold had everyone known about the price increases before or during the sale.  The timing is unfortunate.

Well it was fairly predictable http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-sales-dealer-area/price-increase-in-the-us-market/ but one thing I was pretty certain of was the price wasn't going down.

I am a bit surprised considering the value of the US dollar has appreciated vs the Euro by almost 20% since last April 1.  But at the end of the day it comes down to supply and demand, and Festool's opinion on how much they can charge without losing sales.

That's a pretty crowded race. 'Seems like a good place to get run over...

At least they are not in the race to the bottom of price and quality.

Agreed...but as they increase the price gap compared to the competition, they may be opening a spot for rivals in between.  For example, if the choice is a Bosch glider miter saw at $650 or a Kapex at $1,450, that leaves a lot of room for someone to make a $1,000 saw.

Yes, and you are free to buy what you want.  No one is forcing anyone.

I recently learned of some adjustments to the previously published price changes and have incorporated them in the lists I published at the beginning of this thread.

Please note that on batteries, chargers, etc..., there are some really significant differences in what was previously released.

That's big on the price differences with the batteries.  Glad they finally did that.  It was hard before to justify their battery prices vs others like bosch.
