Price increase?

I have been sitting on the fence for awhile. I purchased the 15.6 cordless drill with all the neat chucks a few months ago but want to buy more. Is the price going up April 1st?  Is it going up for all Festool products or just select ones? I guess I better make up my mind soon, huh?

At McFeely's when you add items to your cart it will show what you will save vs the price increase.

:o  Thanks for the speedy response, guys. I guess I better start studying again. Just when I think I have made up my mind...I change it again. Like a revolving door. I know which dust extractor I want but am still stuck on the 5" or 6" sander. I went to store and held both sizes but they wouldn't let me actually use them.  I did find that the differences in weight and feel didn't seem as extreme as I anticipated.
Oh well, back to the drawing board. :-\

Gary - I'm with Bill E - the 6" sanders are superior in most situations from my perspective.  Consider that a 6" sander covers 40% more surface area than a 5" sander.  There are occasions when you will need a smaller sander, and for those I use the DS 400 detail sander, which is easier to handle on small surfaces than a 5" round sander.

What store did you go to? Festool has them stock demo units solely for the purpose of allowing customers to turn them on, or so I thought. I've actually taken Festool tools home for the weekend to test drive them before and actually have a 150 on loan right now.

Now most of the time I end up purchasing the tool, so I never abuse the loaner and they know that.

I'd really question why someone wouldn't let you try it.

I have the 150/5 and am test driving the Rotex.

As I'm sure you have heard on this site before, depends on the work you do the most. I have both sanders, I love them. The 5" is what I have used the most so far, for on-site work, like face frames and other smaller jobs. The 6" gets used on panels, great sander. If the work you do is mostly smaller things, like boxes, the 5" is the way to go, larger work larger sander. Hope this is at least a little help.

Bill, Dave....Your probably right about the 6"

I didn't really ask to use the sanders at Woodcraft because they weren't set-up for it. In retrospect, I should have asked....they know doubt would have set it up for me?
I've been making mostly furniture like cupboards, tables and cabinets with face frames.  I don't do alot of sanding as I keep my planer blades sharp and I like to use scrapers.
More then likely I'll get the 6".  Now I have to decide on which one I need first the RO or the 150-3?

Oh well, it's a nice dilemma to be in if you have to be in a dilemma. ;D

Gary,

The Woodcraft's that I've been in have a training area.  Typically, it's only a minute or two wheel the CT back there and hook up a sander.

Also, what you may perceive to be a nice, sanitary, display area is also the demo area.  (With a Festool sander plus CT, there's not much difference!)    ;D

Gary, if you a after a finish sander 150/3 is the way to (IMHO). I have the Rotex 125, ES 125 and ETS 150/3, having all 3 sanders I would not use the Rotex for finish sanding. It can do it, its just that the other 2 sanders can do a better job. However, the Rotex is a real powerhouse, that is a Jack-of-all-trades tool. YMMV. I trust you will be happy with any Festool sander. Good luck.
