In the new Price List for Festool USA, there are a few mistakes on page 17 where the UG choices are detailed.

They all say $61. That's not quite right...

On page 11, they have the correct prices.

497351 - $450
497352 - $275
497353 - $275
497354 - $800
497514 - $500

I might also, Tim, but it costs more than that to ship one.

On the topic of misprints, typos and bad research, check out page 62 where the various Festool blades for the TS55 are listed.

If we believe the 2011 catalog, only the Fine tooth 48 tooth blade has a 2.2mm kerf and the cat# 495 377 agrees with the many such blades I purchased in 2010. I do not have the other current cat numbers committed to memory. However all information from Festool has been the TS55 blades all have 2.2mm kerfs.

So what is the explanation why page 62  still shows 2.5mm for the Standard, Panther and Aluminum/Plastic blades and 2.6mm for the Solid Surface blade. I own the current versions of all those blades and all actually have 2.2mm kerfs. If the kerf information is wrong, can we trust the cat#?

Carroll:

The new blades for the TS 55 are all 2.2mm kerf and all except the 48T ATB, Fine Tooth Blade, now have part numbers that have the first three digits of "496".

That makes it easy.

The blade that comes with the TS 55 is a 48-tooth, ATB and has a 2.2mm kerf. All of the other blades that are sold currently also have a 2.2mm kerf. All of their part numbers start with the same three digits, "496".

Tom,
I direct your attention to page 62, where the TS55 blades are shown on a chart:

Standard Blade 2.5mm kerf cat 496 305

Panther Blade 2.5mm kerf cat 495 372 same info as 2009 catalog

Universal Blade kerf 2.5mm cat 496 304

Fine Tooth Blade kerf 2.2mm cat 495 377 which appears to be correct

Solid surface Blade kerf 2.6mm cat 496 309

Aluminum Blade kerf 2.5mm cat 496 307

So, is it possible only the cat number of the Panther blade is wrong and the only change needed with the others is the kerf?

Although it is the middle of the night in Burbank, I woke up still bothered by the TS55 saw blade data on page 62 of the 2011/2012 catalog.

Hoping this had been corrected in the PDF version, I just downloaded that and scrolled to page 62.

Unfortunately the PDF is identical to the printed catalog.

Perhaps there could be a PDF file posted of just the corrected data, so we could print those out and paste then onto the page? On a movie poster we call such an alteration a "snipe"

I like the $61 price much better!

That's probably the actual cost of the product- based on the motor freight shipping method they use for the thing, the other $739 is freight!!!

The catalog is indeed incorrect...

496305 is the current Panther Blade and its kerf is 2.2mm.
495372 is the old Panther Blade and its kerf is indeed 2.5mm.
496304 is the current Universal Blade and its kerf is 2.2mm.
496309 is the current Solid Surface/Laminate Blade and its kerf is 2.2mm
496307 is the current Aluminum/Plastic Blade and its kerf is 2.2mm
495377 is the current Fine Tooth blade and its kerf is 2.2mm

They all now match.

The current Panther Blade, 496305, is sort of a melding of the old Panther and the old Standard Blade. The Standard Blade is no longer sold.

Thank you, Tom

Clearly you should have been the Festool 2011/2012 Catalog Project Proof-Reading Chairman!

Imagine the confusion when loyal Festool customers start calling in orders to their dealers based on the catalog errors.

Now Fogger everywhere will be going over each page with magnifiers, comparing part numbers to specifications.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Carroll, but I think I have enough to do already.
