Actually all of the systainers that are there are part of a Festool demo I was doing at a woodworking club last Wednesday night. The miniCT which is hidden under one of the stacks is a Christmas present for the wife and me. I will use it for jobs away from the home shop, while she has it for general house cleaning. Very nice vacuum. The CT24 is just too big to drag around for small jobs. The miniCT will be much more portable.
I had to make a presentation on sanding at the woodworking club which was meeting in a local Knights of Columbus. Too our surprise -- they kicked us out of the huge meeting hall (Bingo room) for an unscheduled meeting (Bingo). They put 50 of us in a dining room designed to handle 35 people. Too small to do any video work in. Turns out this was a blessing as all of the attendees could not believe that I could do all of that sanding with Festool equipment with no dust. Absolutely nothing to cleanup. Used the Rotex 150 and the EQ 150/3 and the miniCT.
So about 4 of the systainers are woodworking. The others were for for the videoing equipment. We do event videography such as training, corporate stuff and weddings. All of the equipment must be tightly organized and able to travel compactly. One systainer for sound equipment (small mixer, small recorders, wireless microphones, hand mic, cables) and one is for lighting. Others for parts etc. We have to worry about theft while in some of these venues and the systainers really help make things easier to watch and get equipment in and out. I can't wait for that cart that I saw for moving systainers in a post from Europe to be available here. It looked as if it is beefy enough to do the job and will withstand climbing stairs.
Little Princess Festool helped PaPa figure out his other Christmas present yesterday--- a FAST 85 mm Canon lens. I settled on the 85 mm 1.8 ($360). The other one I worked with was a 1.2 at $1990. (WOW). I took 120 pictures of Josie and I decided I could get what I needed done with the 1.8. If I don't like it over time, I will trade it in used for the 1.2. The 1.8 should be great for shooting Festool tools and techniques (very shallow depth of field) where you want only the subject matter to be focused and everything else thrown out. Look at this picture of Princess Festool and me shot with the 1.2. Only her eyes, nose and the website address on the cap are focused. The background is completely out of focus and I am a little bit behind her further from the camera and I am blurred also
Merry Christmas from Princess Festool and PaPa
