Just notified by email that my Pro5 is delayed another month. That will make 6 months of waiting unless the new date does slip again. There have been a lot of reports on this site and others about Pro5 sanders that are hard to control and poor finish quality. Hopefully when I receive mine it does not have any off those issues. How many months would it take them to fix one as they don't appear to have any to replace it with.
If the intention of this Festool promo was to generate new customers and sales ($50 Coupon) it has had the opposite effect for me. Not all festools have the same quality of design. The Kapex is one that seems to have design issues and I am glad I did not purchase one. Very happy with my Makita slider. I have had a Rotex 150 and Track saw on my list but have decided to go a different route with both. I recently bought the Bosch 1250DEVS 6" Dual-Mode on sale for $220 including tax and shipping. Rotex would have cost me $545 ($595 minus $50 coupon) and the bosch is a great sander that has handled everything I have thrown at it and was $325 less. I will also be buying the Makita track saw instead of the festool in the future.
I have 3 festool sander (RO90,RTS400EQ,RAS 115) and a MIDI extractor that I have been mostly happy with. These are sanders unique to festool and if they ever fail would probably repair if possible and may have to buy new again. If there is an alternative available I would be likely now to buy non festool as replacements.
Since the $50 coupon is not good for accessories it will go unused if I decide to keep the PRO5.
