Pro 5 more delays

Just notified by email that my Pro5 is delayed another month.  That will make 6 months of waiting unless the new date does slip again. There have been a lot of reports on this site and others about Pro5 sanders that are hard to control and poor finish quality.  Hopefully when I receive mine it does not have any off those issues.  How many months would it take them to fix one as they don't appear to have any to replace it with.

If the intention of this Festool promo was to generate new customers and sales ($50 Coupon) it has had the opposite effect for me. Not all festools have the same quality of design.  The Kapex is one that seems to have design issues and I am glad I did not purchase one. Very happy with my Makita slider.  I have had a Rotex 150 and Track saw on my list but have decided to go a different route with both.  I recently bought the Bosch 1250DEVS 6" Dual-Mode on sale for $220 including tax and shipping. Rotex would have cost me $545 ($595 minus $50 coupon) and the bosch is a great sander that has handled everything I have thrown at it and was $325 less.  I will also be buying the Makita track saw instead of the festool in the future.

I have 3 festool sander (RO90,RTS400EQ,RAS 115) and a MIDI extractor that I have been mostly happy with.  These are sanders unique to festool and if they ever fail would probably repair if possible and may have to buy new again. If there is an alternative available I would be likely now to buy non festool as replacements.

Since the $50 coupon is not good for accessories it will go unused if I decide to keep the PRO5.

Yup, just got an e-mail notifying me of the same delay.  At this point, I've waited five months, another month isn't going to change much, I guess.  The only part that stinks is that I have to wait to get my $50 from Festool.  I already bought a CXS, so the $50 will apply to something I've already bought.  It stinks that you don't have a use for the voucher, which is definitely a big part of the value equation of the PRO 5!

This is beyond Frustrating. Festool is quite an obsession of mine, and most of ours I'm sure. But waiting over 6 months for something I paid for already is wearing thin on me.  Especially since I actually need them.  I'm in business as well, and if a customer paid me 6 months ago to do their floors,  I would certainly be working round the clock to make things right.  very very irritated

I am also beginning to think Tool Nut screwed up just as badly as Festool on this.  It is irritating that I keep hearing of people who ordered from other companies get theirs, some even a couple months ago.  If the delay is due to the control/jumping issues that have some reported, they need to come out and say it, rather than the vague "Festool is still running behind".  They obviously aren't running that behind if others are getting their sanders.

I am trying to patient on this, but my patience is starting to wane.

For what it's worth, I ordered mine from Tool Nut and I got my sander. They went out of their way keeping me informed the entire time. You shouldn't blame them for Festool's issue. They have some of the best customer service around.

If folks are frustrated, they can easily cancel their orders. Credit cards don't get charged until the sander is shipped.

I paid Tool Nut in full for mine that has been delayed another month. I really was looking forward to getting mine this month. I am weighing my options, for me a cheap Pro 5 from Festool is not worth the hassle. They make some great tools but they are not, the end all, be all of tools, in my opinion. Which is the only opinion that counts to me.

I don't think tool nut is the issue here, they have definitely kept me informed very often.  I think there making festool look good in this situation actually.

Fellas  - in case you didn't read the 15+ page tome about the Pro5 on here, it might be worth a look.

exc. summary:

- Festool mis - judged demand and didn't have enough production scheduled / allocated for all the pre orders taken in 2-3 days.
- sales were halted
- it was said orders taken would be honored.
- not every dealer took or accepted pre-orders , so you may find some with inventory on their shelves today. Or even next month.
- most dealers are fulfilling based on your timing of ordering.  If you were first in line you've had your sander for six months now. If you were at the end of the line, well who knows ?

Festool semms to be parceling out shipments as they see fit and to dealers based on ????  They are not commenting on their logistics.

It appears that some dealers are getting multiple shipments (those that took on huge commitments before pre-orders were accepted)  They are likely getting multiple deliveries that amount to a percentage of their overall allotment.  I know ToolNut has gotten at least 2 shipments , maybe more  and sounds like they're getting another one when FT decides.

If you've been debited for a purchase and haven't received your pre-ordered sander - don't blame Festool or your Dealer - look in the mirror and re-evaluate the method of payment YOU selected.  Payal most likely.  Choose a different, more consume friendly method next time.

This sander is a $$$$$$$$$$$ looser for their balance sheet.  You don't honestly expect them to drop everything and schedule only Pro5 production simply so a few guys in N.America can get a $50 festool sander in  short order- do you  ?  Let's be reasonable.  They have to produce items that actually pay the bills during the same time frame.

Very poor showing on Festools part in my opinion. This is not the first promotion that got out of hand they've offered. I don't think they're the same company they were when I first started buying their tools. I've stood by them on some of their other snafus even when it costed me money.
I have to say Mafell is looking better every day. I'm not naive enough to think my little bit of money means anything to them but it does to me and I'm not going to keep giving it to a company that is so arrogant they feel they can build anything, promise everything and deliver little and think we have to buy it. Ummm, no, whether they admit it, they have competition and we have comparable even better choices.

[member=3730]ewils91[/member] - I agree with most of your observations except the promotions gone awry .

Festool promotions are few and far between , bordering on non- existent.  I'm at a loss to recall one that generated a commotion anything like this.

Which Mafell sander are you planning on purchasing instead of this cheap promo thing you think you can't live without?

I entirely agree with this sentiment. I have soured greatly on Festool and Toolnut because of this. Prior to this Festool meant "the best" to me, not only the tool quality, but also the customer experience. Waiting 6 months while I see reports of these sanders for sale everywhere really gets my goat.

Toolnut does not need me to defend them here, but I will offer my 2 cents. As we all know, Festool greatly underestimated the demand. Supply dictated that Dealers were given their orders in multiple shipments - over a course of months. And yes, some dealers may not still have gotten their final allotment. This and prior allotments were and are totally out of the dealers' hands.

Added to this - since as mentioned, this has taken 6 months, many customers have different credit cards and/or some have decided to cancel and there still remains a list of customers who have placed their orders after the PRO 5 sander promation was "no longer available." This results - at least in my case, of an order by order email and phone call. I believe Shane and Toolnut have updated their customers with the best information on hand. We dealers share our customers' frustration. Trust me, all dealers want their customers to get their sanders, but we can't ship what we do not have.

It's all down to when you placed your order for the sander. FIFO

I placed my order with Toolnut within 20 minutes of the Pro 5 announcement, I received the sander on time.
I placed an order for my brother-in-law with Bob Marino 36 hours after the Pro 5 announcement, I received that sander 5 months later.

Hey [member=727]antss[/member] ...that's what makes the world go round.. [thumbs up]

Surprised that my PRO 5 shipped today, just received a shipment e-mail.  It was bumped from mid-March to late-April just recently.  I was almost prepping to never get the PRO 5, so I had refurbished an older ETS 125 EQ for my 5" sanding needs.  Now I have an extra sander for my daughter to practice with that is less likely to run away from her.

By the way, everyone talks about drinking the green kool aid, but really, can't we just say we're drinking ecto cooler?  It's already green, so there's that.  Should we petition to make Slimer the official Festool mascot?  ;)

Got my e-mail this morning from Festool Products, guess my sander is on its way.

No ones addressing the OPs first question...

Can we expect a fix in the forseeable future for the bad sanders? Mines a ridiculous, jumpy nightmare (and its not user error or a vacuum related issue).
