Pro 5 more delays

Though not answered in this thread , the Pro5 jumpy prob. has been answered in others.

You send it back to FT under warranty, they fix it ; and return it to you.  Process seems to take 5-14 days depending on where you live and how busy the service dept. is the moment your tool goes in the que.

Go online and start the process, it's pretty painless.

The good news is it seems only a small percentage of sanders have this issue.  My guess is later batches will have fewer as FT was aware of the problem before those went into production.

No ones addressing the OPs first question...

Can we expect a fix in the forseeable future for the bad sanders? Mines a ridiculous, jumpy nightmare (and its not user error or a vacuum related issue).

Turn around time on my jumpy Pro 5 was one and a half business days.
Went to my account, clicked on the link next to my sander,
was instantly provided a UPS label to print, put it in a box,
dropped it off at the UPS store: it arrived on my doorstep the second morning
after.

What more could you ask for?

Had to send mine in too for the same reason. Helluva warranty on a 99 dollar sander.

The problem was once they made the announcement some dealers up and ordered these in thousands before ever starting to take actual customer orders. I don't think festoon realized the commotion this deal would generate. Which is a little suprising considering that it was under half the cost of the older equivalent sander. I bought one because the systainer and the coupon were equal to the 99 dollar price tag. I didn't expect that I would actually even get a sander. Bonus when it actually came in.

Update: The New Festool website has a cracking upgrade where you can no longer do any of the above.  LoL
The phone number is on the tool, dude.

Just notified by email that my Pro5 is delayed another month.  That will make 6 months of waiting unless the new date does slip again. There have been a lot of reports on this site and others about Pro5 sanders that are hard to control and poor finish quality.  Hopefully when I receive mine it does not have any off those issues.  How many months would it take them to fix one as they don't appear to have any to replace it with.

I finally received my pro5 sander and took it for a spin.  Not worth the wait.  Jumpy, almost no rotation and poor surface finish.  I had to clean it up with my  5 year old RTS 400 EQ.  I tried light and heavy touch and everything in between.  Low and high suction and no suction.  Nothing could tame the sander.  It does get more controllable with worn paper but with new jumps all around. I used 120 to 220 and sander still jumpy with poor surface quality.

Will keep using to see if pad brake may be problem and it may loosen up.  If not I will have to decide whether to send brand new sander in for repair or, return within 30 days for refund.  I could probably sell the sander for more than I paid but would not pass problem onto another.

I won't be using the $50 voucher as this whole experience has caused me see festool as a company that maybe slipping in quality and relying more on it's reputation.  This sander as it is is not worth $99 if this is as good as it gets.  Since I'm not using the voucher all I have is a overpriced systainer. Not much of a deal.

If I choose to send it in and wait for it to be repaired I will update when it is returned.  Maybe it will be the sander that I thought I was buying.

My Pro 5 was horrendous and came back from repair flawless.
It's worth it.

One would think in the months it took, they would have made it correct from the onset?

The promo has generated discussion and interest though.

If you have a use for the sander, send it in for repair, it should come back free of these issues.  A few reported similar issues when the Nov batch went out.  Those that chose to get it fixed reported drastically different performance.  I'm guessing something is wrong with the pads, but I don't know.  Mine came out of the box working perfectly.  For net $49, it's a great little sander.

My  sander was manufactured in Feb 2017.  I was hoping they would have solved the problem by the time they made my sander.  I emailed my dealer about the problem last week and will contact them and or festool next week.  More waiting.
