Brilliant advice always! Thank you

You really don't have  siphon gun, you have a bottom feed gun. The Fuji guns are positive pressure fed, not siphon fed (used this term to make life simple).

You don't need the filter.

You do not have to keep the gun "straight" in your situation try to keep the gun parallel to the surface being shot. Tighten the fan, decrease material feed, spray the details, spray the balance of the door.

Move to the PPS system, they have filters in the lids.

Essentially what it looks like to me is not enough air in the paint.  Paint should be fine droplets like the photos in this article which show an automotive style finish vs a coarser finish (woudl appear sandpaper like or rough).  If you can't get the paint particles to show up as fine and are using water based try thinning or maybe floetrol if the material is solvent based use a thinner.  30 seconds in a zahn 2 cup typically provides ideal spray time for hvlp .  TO get more air in the paint you use a smaller nozzle and larger air cap or same nozzle, larger air cap, and turn the needle in controlling paint flow more.
