Problem with my new Kapex

Hi all,
I bought me a kapex here a while back.  I have just recently started using it more.
I usually cut all my stuff on the flat but was cutting some 4.24 baseboard and thought I would cut it in the upright.
I pulled the saw out to that place where you lock it with the little green lever on the left side.  This allows you full cutting depth.
My problem is that I can never get it to release when I am done. The lever won't come up enough to release.  Any one have any knowledge???
Thanks
Randy

Hi Shane,
Not an insult at all.  I am using the release lever like the manual says, but it will not release.  I assume it is supposed to be spring activated.  I cannot even lift it up with my finger.  I can get it to release, but by using my finger and just luck.  I cannot figure it out.  Is there some kind of adjustment there.  I see a little screw holding a metal piece in there where it catches.  I am out of my 30 day return period, and I sure dont want to send it back in for this.  Any help would sure be apprecitated.  I have had it a few months, but it has been sitting in the shop.  I just recently put it to work in the field.  Thanks,
Randy Belk

I have the same problem.  Reach around back of the saw head and lift the fold down metal piece that locks the saw head as you push the release lever.

Thanks Brice,  I have tried that.  I hold up on it and move the saw head back and forth to try and release it.  It is like it wont go up high enough to release.  its a real pain.  I guess I spent 30 min. today when cleaning up  after work, trying to get the darn thing to release.
Thanks though.
Randy

Randy, I haven't used the tall miter position myself since writing the manual, but if I recall correctly, the Tall Miter Latch (item C in my graphic) is a slight hook. You may need to push or pull slightly on the main carriage to get it to release when you simultaneously operate the release lever.

Oh, I just took a closer look at the manual and a few pictures. It is definitely a rather large hook. From the direction of the hook, you should push the carriage away from you as you operate the release lever. The instructions for using it on page 14 even specify this.

I had the same problem with mine, I put a little bit of WD40 lubricant on the metal hook and it solved the problem.

"While pressing down on the release lever (see previous image), pull the saw head away from the fence. The tall miter latch will spring to the vertical position when it releases."    this is what the manual says- and its a little confusing- saying pulling away from the fence

Mine is little awkward sometimes to release just a wiggle back and forth normally gets it out of the locking position.  I find dust causes a problem when trying to engage the lock so maybe that could be the same to unlock it.

Just a quick follow up.  Was back at job today and I tried the WD-40.  That did the trick.  Thanks for the help.
