Honestly I've never found a reason to complain about my Festool products. But the first time I used my new bit it snapped like a rotted twig. Are these being manufactured in China? Not up to the standard I've come to appreciate from Festool. :(

I'm pretty impressed with how fast my post was responded to with the promise of something as small as a replacement bit. Festool, you've reaffirmed my belief that youre the best. Thanks Shane.
And sorry about suggesting that anything Festool is made in China. For the curious reader, Shane assures me that its all done in Germany.

Yep festool backup service is one of the best.
I have to say though the drill bit are made in China. I bought some 3mm and 10mm replacements and on the little plastic box it says "Made in China ".
I was on a festool woodworking class a few weeks ago and it came up that everything is made in Germany , pointed out to the festool trainer that the drill bits are not, he didn't even realize.
Still very good quality though.

When I first got my CDD i bought some festool philips bits. I went through 4 of them in one week, and this was with the drills torque only set to about 6. From then on i have never bought festool screw driver bits. There are however a few drill bits I would like.

Jeff, the real problem is that you are using one of those silly bits for slotted screws  [blink]  Who uses those anymore  ::)    [bite tongue]  [tongue]  [big grin]

Seth

[scared] Well sometimes you find you need to remove old slotted head screws.

I hate that.  [scared]

I have also been told that the bits are made in Germany.  I have drill bit sets that have boxes / cases that look identical to the Festool ones with the exception of the decals.  All the BOXES are marked made in China.  The bits are not marked.

Seth, you are right -slotted screws were from the era of cavemen. But it was not by my choice >:(
