Problems with Cam Adjustments on TS 55 REQ

I am having an issue with the guide rail cam adjustments on a brand new TS 55 REQ.  With the saw sitting on a guide rail I can adjust the cam located at the back of the saw to remove any side-play but the cam at the front of the saw is a different story.  I can turn the front cam clockwise all the way until it hits the stop and there is still a very tiny bit of play in the front part of the saw.  The back cam is rotated about 2/3 of it's range before the saw starts to feel too snug to move.  This is a brand new saw that hasn’t cut a piece of wood yet so there is no wear on the replaceable wear bars and I can’t visually see any issues with the plastic cams themselves.  I assume this isn't normal.  My concern is that the accuracy of cut will be off and if the front wear bars happen to get worn the side-play will only get worse in the front part of the saw with no means of correcting it.  My thoughts are I should take this saw back and exchange it for another one?

My first guess is that there is something wrong with the wear bars. You said you looked at them, but did you make sure both pieces were there and hadn't fallen out? (Both sides of the guide rail rib).

Compare the appearance between the front and rear gibs. If you see a difference between one then you know what part is not proper. You could even swap the parts front to rear. It's a lot easier replacing a couple of parts than it would be to send the whole saw in.

Rick, I can confirm there are wear bars on both sides of the guide rail rib for each of the cams.  I spoke to Festool's Service Department and they suggested swapping the wear bars front to rear as well.  I will give that a try tonight and update.

Interesting suggestion - swapping front to rear. If there is something wrong with one, I'm curious why that would fix the problem. Do front and rear have the same parts? Just asking for information

well if the front work and rear doesn't  so we swap now if the front doesn't work and rear does the its the spacer .but if the rear still doesn't work then it the wheel adjuster .i guess

Yes, it is just a matter of isolating whether the problem is user-replaceable wear items versus requiring the saw to be sent in for service. It is not intended to fix anything, only be diagnostic as to what needs to be corrected.

I swapped the wear bars front to back and it is has the same issue.  In fact I think there is a tiny bit more play than previously.  My guess is that the metal pin that the front cam rotates on is maybe bent slightly towards the outside of the saw.
