Hi,

I am not sure whether I configured the edging plate and angle arm. Seems pretty simple. The angle arm goes on the edging plate like in the picture. I secure it with knob I. III is used for fine adjustments. Here is the problem. Turning the fine adjustment dial III is very hard. It works but it just feels wrong and not smooth at all. Going up or down a significant amount is not easy because turning the fine adjustment thing is difficult. I do loosen knob I before turning the fine adjustment dial.

Is that the same for others? Am I doing something wrong with the setup?

Thanks!

I just double checked mine -- provided the middle knob securing the angle arm post to the edging plate is loosened, you should be able to turn the green fine adjustment knob freely.  I would check the threading on both the angle arm and the plate to make sure they are in good condition.

I've just checked too, and again, providing knob I is loosened, knob III turns without issue; no force required.

Does knob III turn without issue when not attached to the edging plate? It should do...

Thanks everyone. Good to hear that this is not normal. It is going a little easier now but not as smoothly as I saw in some videos. Will work with it for now and see how it goes.

Mine was very tight when I got it, and I contacted Festool UK who sent me another arm; they said they didn't want the old one back.  Before the replacement arrived it cleaned up the (metric) thread with a die, and it's fine now.

From memory it's M4 or M5; I don't want to dismantle it to check as it's set up accurately and I don't want to have to reset it.

Good luck.

Andrew

Had same problem the bolt is bent. Take apart and look at the inside while turning the bolt. Had to get a new one sent and it fixed it.
