First "real" piece of furniture.

I designed it in Sketch up, trying some new things:

1) Sliding doors at the bottom
2) 2 Drawers on top
3) Splayed legs

We'll see how it goes!

Looking good. How do you find the fence dogs? I’ve been considering them myself.
Cheers

Your Table is looking Great …
But the rack holding the lower bike where did you get that it looks interesting ...

That's coming along nicely. I love walnut, it's a beautiful grain and lends itself to so many applications. Wenge is another of my favourites.
Your workshop is looking very nice  [thumbs up]

Matt - your project draws attention on a number of points. Look forward to seeing how it comes together. Your pictures are obviously welcomed by all.
how did you go about learning SketchUp? - we're evaluating the addition of some quality woodworking oriented SketchUp training material to our Books and Plans section. I've seen a lot of tutorials and even printed material I would rate not better than marginal.

Your comment on that?

How about adding an image of a 3-D view of the SketchUp Table design?

Hans

Hans, good idea, Ive been interested in learning Sketch up. Im pretty inept at technology. I dont even know where to get sketch up at.

a tiny bit off topic but here goes:
we have been looking for at different SketchUp training resources for quite some time because of the terrific appeal for woodworkers and the very low cost.
So I finally found something that we are currently evaluating as suitable for sale. Looks good and will most likely be up on our website next month. To be notified when it's up on the website for viewing and ordering, email to info@tsoproducts.com
Subject line "SketchUp training interest".

[member=2242]tallgrass[/member] I think you mean the foam in the aluminum trays on the side? It holds up very well and I love it!

[member=16995]AndrewG[/member] I love them! Awesome products! I bought two pair as you can see. I find 4 dogs hold the fence extremely rigid with 0 flex. With only 2 it *sometimes* would flex in the middle if I tried to clamp a board to it or something.

Thank you [member=69479]Jiggy Joiner[/member] ! I love walnut. Wenge looks good but the dust is too much for me :)

[member=59331]TSO Products[/member] thank you sir! Will do! I learned by watching a lot of Jay Bates tutorials online, and Matthais Wandel. After watching their tutorials, and following along, I just played with it a LOT. I think the more you use something the better you get at it. I could watch for hours but without actually doing it myself, I found it challenging.

I do think a course would be good too. I could even help if you want! I feel like I could at least teach a super introductory class.

[member=10147]jobsworth[/member] you should man! I am more than happy to FaceTime you or Webex (video conference) or something for an hour if you're interested. I honestly think after 1 hour, you would just "get" it and it would make a ton of sense to you.

[member=59331]TSO Products[/member] sounds cool man! I will do that.

Thank you all for the interest!

I am glad the foam is working for you. I have problems with it becoming a dust trap and a kind " of funk sponge". I shifted to solid surface in my shop. Your work and process are excellent.
