PROOF! Protool merging with Festool?

Well spotted Timtool... I wouldn't have picked it from watching the video but your stills are compelling evidence...

Reminds me a bit of Black and Decker swallowing Elu many years ago...

My 2000 watt Elu is still my favourite big router... I can't kill it and the soft start and constant electronics are still good 30 years later...

I wouldn't compare it to that Festool and protool are all part of tts anyway.

When b&d got hold of elu they turned it all yellow and ruined it >:(

I tend to agree, I still have a few Elu tools, all of which are getting on a bit now but all still working fine. I have had a few Dewalt 625e routers as well, and they have all failed whereas the Elu's are still up and running. Strange really, when you think the old Elu MOF 177e is basically the same machine as the DW625e.

I agree, it's not the same, but it did remind me of past acquisitions...

FWIW, I remember I paid $475.00 for my Elu Router in I think 1982....

Now, bring that into today's money and try and convince me Festool are an 'expensive' tool.... :pan

Sry, got all sentimental there for a moment, I'm over it now....

Cept the DW625e's got that fancy new feature... Planned obsolescence...

I recently sold all my elu stuff. I had a 96e router , mitre saw, planer and a battery drill, all built to last years. They were the first power tools I bought upon finishing my apprenticeship.

Yes Festool is changing Protool over to Festool
I spoke to the Festool guys last week in Winchester and they confirmed that protool tools will be produced as Festool giving all uk dealers access to the complete catalogue
Also they hinted at a new cordless SDS as its the one thing that's missing from both divisions

Interesting.  I have heard of Narex tools but I didn't know that they, too, were related to Festool.

After TTS acquired Narex, they made Narex into the Protool line. But they also kept Narex alive for the East European market, as it was a well known brand there.

Well that about confirms it for me..Once there is cake involved we needn't doubt the deal is done.

Frank,

I asked Christian about the Narex handtools being part of TTS.  That Narex is seperate.

Peter, I think that conflicts with what Alex says two posts above.  But, I guess that depends on what the word "separate" means.

Frank,  the are several companies named Narex.  Narex powertools re a part of TTS.  Narex chisels are not.  That Narex is a different company and not part of TTS.  I didn't explain well.  Sorry.

what else did you guys talk about

Well clearly they didn't talk about the deeper ramifications (or sheepifications). Michael W. is the Vice President of Marketing, but he owns the Ford F150 pickup truck shown in the Syslite Torture Test video. So if Festool is going to merge with Chrysler and build the new Das Schaf truck, Michael is going to have to get rid of his prized F150 truck. I don't think he is going to let that go away lightly without a fight.

On the other hand, I am greatly looking forward to writing a supplemental manual for the Das Schaf. As much as I love my GMC Sierra, having a Das Schaf with MMC electronics parked in my driveway will really drive my neighbors insane.  [tongue]

I didn't know the Narex chisel company was a seperate company. But the powertool Narex sure is part of TTS. You can find Narex right next to Festool and Protool in the European Ekat.

If Christian says they're seperate companies I don't doubt him, but it's odd that both Narex companies also have the exact same logo. You'd think they at least stem from the same root.

I may have been fooled by the similar look of the screwdrivers. Also, if I load this page in Chrome and ask it to translate to English, the "NAREX BYSTRICE" in the page header becomes "WIHA BYSTRICE".
